Wake Him Up When September Ends: Trump's Court Case Convergence [COMMENTARY]

There are a multitude of reasons why convicted felon Donald Trump doesn't want to show up to debate Vice President (and former prosecutor) Kamala Harris on September 10th.

And all of those reasons are connected to his criminal CV catching up to him in a convergence of more court cases in thirty days than most people would ever have in thirty lifetimes.

"Sleepy Don" better start getting some rest at night instead of raging all over Truth Social in all-caps at 3 AM, because his next few weeks are going to be crazy busy.

On August 16th, Judge Tanya Chutkan will hold a status conference in Trump's newly restarted 2020 election interference trial. The case had been paused while Trump waited for the Supreme Court to hand him immunity. Now Judge Chutkan will have to decide what qualifies as "official acts" with public hearings that could take weeks.

It's still unclear as to whether Trump would have to be in court for all of the testimony, but since the status conference will establish a "schedule for pretrial proceedings," it could mean weeks off of the campaign trail so he could nap in court.

On September 4th, Trump is set to head back into court to once again lose more money to the woman he sexually assaulted and can't stop defaming, writer E. Jean Carroll. Why? Because his ego, is my best guess. Hopefully E. Jean's payout will increase by at least two more digits.

Trump wants to debate Vice President Harris on Fox News on September 6th, but her campaign has made it clear she will only be showing up to the debates both campaigns had agreed to in May.

They agreed to the schedule, without specification as to whom the candidate might be, so when Trump doesn't show up for that one, VP Harris will get an awesome Town Hall. Look for Trump to schedule one on Fox or Newsmax on the same night because he's an attention-seeking snowflake.

On September 18th, Trump is set to be sentenced in Manhattan by Judge Juan Merchan on 34 felony counts of fraud related to election interference. The hopeful optimist in me has been reawakened by the energy of the Harris/Walz campaign, and I want to believe Judge Merchan will hand down a real punishment for the real criminal who committed the same real crimes as Michael Cohen. Who went to real prison and served real time in solitary before having his sentence commuted to house arrest during the early months of the COVID-19 lockdowns.

Trump's October surprise could be real accountability. If he can stay awake for it, that is.
