Donald Trump's weekend of unhinged appearances was capped on Sunday night with a speech in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he transmitted his deep fear of losing the election by suggesting a real-life version of the movie "The Purge" as a solution to what he claimed was a nationwide increase in violent crime.
"The Purge" depicts a near-future America where all citizens can commit all sorts of violent atrocities upon each other with zero consequences for 24 hours. But Trump's speech calling for police brutality also invoked the very real Kristallnacht, which many historians see as the true beginning of the Holocaust.
Trump, a longtime proponent of police brutality, told the crowd that all it would take was “One rough hour — and I mean real rough — the word will get out and it will end immediately, you know? It will end immediately."
“You see these guys walking out with air conditioners with refrigerators on their back, the craziest thing,” Trump rambled. “And the police aren’t allowed to do their job. They’re told, if you do anything, you’re gonna lose your pension.
“They’re not allowed to do it because the liberal left won’t let them do it. The liberal left wants to destroy them, and they want to destroy our country.”
Anti-Semitism has increased exponentially, both online and off, in the nine years since Trump first campaigned for office. As recently as last week, Trump claimed that if he loses in November, it'll be the fault of American Jews, who comprise roughly 2.4% of the U.S. population.
