WATCH: President Biden Calls For Unity After Trump Rally Shooting

President Joe Biden addressed the nation from the White House on Sunday afternoon to update the American people on the shooting at Donald Trump's rally on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Flanked by Vice President Kamala Harris and Attorney General Merrick Garland, President Biden said he had spoken with Trump, and that he was "sincerely grateful" that Trump is "recovering and doing well."

"We had a short but good conversation," the President said. "Jill and I are keeping him and his family in our prayers."

President Biden also extended his "deepest condolences" to the family of the rally attendee who was also shot and killed by Thomas Crooks during his alleged attempt to take Trump's life.

"He was a father," President Biden said of the victim. "He was protecting his family from the bullets."

The President also sent his best wishes to anyone injured in the brief incident which played out live on TV.

He thanked the Secret Service and others who "risked their lives" to prevent any other injuries. And despite multiple conspiracy theories and the overreaction from MAGA members of Congress, the President urged the country to condemn the violence that took place in Butler.

"There's no place in America for this kind of violence," President Biden said. "Or any violence, for that matter. It's not who we are as a nation.

"Unity is the most elusive goal of all," the President continued. "We are not going to lose sight of who we are as Americans."

President Biden will also address the nation tonight from the Oval Office at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific.
