The Trump campaign is claiming it was hacked by "foreign sources" which resulted in the leak of a dossier on Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance.
In early August, the Trump campaign said some of its internal communications were hacked and pointed to a recent Microsoft report that suggested Iranian hackers “sent a spear phishing email in June to a high-ranking official on a presidential campaign.”
Several news outlets reported they had received the dossier from a man calling himself "Robert," but didn't disclose any of the information or release the documents.
That changed on Thursday when independent journalist Ken Klippenstein gave the public what it wanted: the information the Trump campaign had on the historically unpopular Vance, whose Senate run was financed by Silicon Valley billionaire Peter "PayPal" Thiel.
However, shortly after Klippenstein shared the dossier, alleged free speech advocate Elon "Leon" Musk suspended his account for *checks notes* acting as a member of the free press operating under the First Amendment.
Leon can't suspend Klippenstein's Substack, however. And there's plenty of damning research in it that makes it clear Vance was a terrible choice. There's a lot of material on Vance's past criticisms of Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, as well as during his lone term in office.
But there's nothing in the research that could hurt the campaign anymore than it's already hurt itself. Trump is losing badly to Kamala Harris, and Vance is currently polling at a historic low for any VP candidate ahead of his debate with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Tuesday.
