WATCH: Lawrence O'Donnell Praises Liz Cheney For Putting Country Over Party

Former GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney was met with bipartisan praise on Thursday after delivering a speech endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris while standing in the birthplace of the Republican Party.

Cheney, one of the few Republicans who voted for both of Donald Trump's impeachments, was also the Vice Chair of the January 6th House Select Committee. Her endorsement of VP Harris coincides with the unsealing of the extended 165-page motion filed by DOJ Special Counsel, which revealed the extent of Donald Trump's criminality in the months leading up to the January 6th insurrection, as well as his behavior and lack of action on the day itself.

Liz Cheney has remained a staunch Trump critic and urged Wisconsin voters to “reject the depraved cruelty” of what a second term of his would do to the country.

“I was a Republican even before Donald Trump started spray-tanning,” Cheney joked early in her speech. She also criticized Trump for inciting the violent attack on the Capitol and said he “is not fit to lead” the country. “What January 6th shows us is that there is not an ounce of compassion in Donald Trump,” Cheney said. “He is petty, he is vindictive and he is cruel.”

Her parents, former Vice President Dick Cheney and Lynn Cheney, have also endorsed Vice President Harris. MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell devoted a segment of his Thursday night show to thank the Cheneys and other Republicans for putting country over party by not just rejecting Donald Trump, but enthusiastically voting for Kamala Harris.
