Vice President Kamala Harris was set to use her appearance in New Hampshire on Wednesday to mainly focus on introducing her new small business tax plan.
But after the morning's deadly school shooting in Winder, Georgia, the Vice President went off script to talk about the tragic incident. "It doesn't have to be this way," VP Harris told the crowd.
VP Harris spoke at the Throwback Brewery in North Hampton and took the time to meet with co-owners Annette Lee and Nicole Carrier. The brewery got support to open its current location through a small business credit and installed solar panels using federal programs championed by the Biden administration, according to the Harris campaign.
Vice President Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, are focused on helping boost the middle class by giving them the kind of tax breaks Trump would give millionaires.
If enacted, the VP's plan would expand from $5,000 to $50,000 tax incentives for small business startup expenses, to eventually incentivize 25 million new small business applications over four years.
The trip to New Hampshire is seen as a rarity for the Vice President, as most of the campaign is focused on the key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The VP heads back to Pittsburgh on Thursday, marking her 10th visit to Pennsylvania in 2024.
But with one of Donald Trump's top volunteers recently admitting they have no path to victory in New Hampshire, the Vice President just had to use her momentum to visit the Granite State.
