Fresh off her $100 million fundraising rally with Oprah Winfrey in Michigan Thursday night, Vice President Kamala Harris was back in the battleground state of Georgia on Friday.
Speaking to a packed house at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta, the Vice President delivered a fiery speech centered on women's reproductive rights.
As she had the night before, Vice President Harris focused on the tragic story of Amber Thurman, a 28-year-old Black woman who died in 2022 after a prolonged delay in medical care--caused by confusion over the state's new abortion laws--for a rare complication that occurred when she took abortion pills.
"We're saying that we're gonna create policy that says a doctor, a healthcare provider, will only kick in to give the care somebody needs if they're about to die?" the Vice President fumed. "Think about what we are saying right now. You're saying that good policy -- logical policy, moral policy, humane policy -- is about saying that a healthcare provider will only start providing that care when you're about to die?"
The Vice President continued: "And these hypocrites wanna start talking about, 'this is in the best interest of women and children,' well where have you been when it comes to taking care of the women and children of America?"
The Vice President also touched on other topics including the economy and the debate with Donald Trump--she told the crowd she wants a rematch.
After her speech in Atlanta, the VP headed to Madison, Wisconsin, to hold another rally there.
