WATCH: Walz and Vance Set For October 1st Debate

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator JD Vance have agreed to a first Vice Presidential debate on October 1st.

At his first rally as Vice President Kamala Harris's running mate last week, Walz said of "Vladimir Futon": “I can’t wait to debate the guy...if he's willing to get off the couch and show up."

The debate will hosted by CBS News, which has proposed other dates for the two VP candidates as well: September 17th and 24th, and October 8th.

This year is the first election cycle in which the debates are not being organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates, so the Trump campaign thinks it can make any demands it wants.

The Harris-Walz campaign released a scathing statement regarding both the Presidential and Vice Presidential debate schedules.

"The debate about debates is over...The more they play games, the more insecure and unserious Trump and Vance reveal themselves to be to the American people. Those games end now.”

Meanwhile, his opponent is trying to pretend he's not terrified.

Nice false bravado, Vladimir Futon. While he's so relieved he's not debating Kamala, he's well aware he's not up to the task of taking on Coach Walz.

Also, there has traditionally only been one debate between the Vice Presidential candidates since the first one in 1976. Except in 1980, when there was no debate between George H.W. Bush and Walter Mondale.

VP Harris and Donald Trump are still set to meet for their first debate on September 10th, even as Trump's legal team is scrambling to delay his sentencing eight days later in New York.
