During a segment on CNN Monday night, commentator Van Jones lit into J.D. Vance, saying that the Ohio senator has a 'bad soul' and 'no integrity.'
The segment was focused on the looming debate between Vance and Tim Walz with former Republican congressman Lee Zeldin tasked with defending Vance. Jones came out so strongly against the Republican running mate that Zeldin had pretty much nowhere to go.
After host Kaitlan Collins played a clip of some of Trump's ugliest comments from this weekend, including where he called Kamala Harris mentally disabled, Jones responded:
"That's the kind of despicable stuff you're going to see from J.D. Vance. J.D. Vance has no integrity. No dignity. No morals. He changed his whole personality to fit in with Donald Trump."
The former Obama staffer continued, "He has done nothing except write a phony book, suck up to people with big money on Wall Street, be a senator for a year-and-a-half — he is a despicable person and you're going to see the worst in American politics from this guy. He's a racist and he's horrible."
A clearly shaken Zeldin tried to defend Vance by calling the Ohio senator a man of integrity, but Jones was not having it at all. He responded, "Cats and dogs? Cats and dogs? Black people eat cats and dogs? Black immigrants eat cats and dogs? That's integrity?"
