During a recent interview, Donald Trump slurred long-time advocate Lindsey Grham, referring to the South Carolina senator as a Progressive.
There was a time when Lindsey Graham attempted to act as one of the GOP's firewalls against Donald Trump, telling his Twitter followers that if Trump wins the nomination, the Republican party will be finished and that they would deserve it.
Once Trump became the nominee, though, Graham was quick to become one of his most loyal toadies. Trump is willing to use the South Carolina senator when it suits him, but surely doesn't respect him in any way. That was clear during a Trump interview on Fox Business where Trump called out Graham as a Progressive.
Trump has repeatedly talked about a tariff he would placed on other countries and how this would benefit the American economy. He has been shut down by economists, but still keeps pushing the idea. He claimed, "If China charges us – on a car – 100%, we charge them on a car 100%."
Trump continued:
"But you know, I have a certain senator named Lindsey Graham. And he’s not into this as much as he is other things. And he’s a nice guy, good guy. And you know, he cares. He loves the country even though he’s a progressive. That’s ok. These are minor details."
