While almost all of the media coverage about the 2024 election has been laser-focused on the contentious race between Vice President Kamala Harris and convicted felon Donald Trump, the House and Senate races are also just as competitive.
Democratic leadership is concerned that their razor-thin majority might be at risk as West Virginia is all but certain to flip Republican after the impending retirement of Sen. Joe Manchin, who registered as an independent in May.
The more contentious races are in the seven swing states and battleground states that traditionally lean Red. However, MAGA Republicans have lost their footing in the months since Vice President Harris became the Democratic nominee and Trump's mental decline has left his party feeling uneasy as they face a potential landslide loss.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is vulnerable thanks to a strong Democratic challenger in Rep. Colin Allred. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is crushing his GOP opponent, former baseball player Steve Garvey, and is poised to take the seat formerly occupied by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
In Arizona, Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego has consistently been polling ahead of election-denying MAGA Republican Kari Lake in the closing weeks of the election. Gallego has performed particularly well among Latino voters who have a large, and growing, influence in the state and are also boosting Vice President Harris.
The House has 34 vulnerable seats as well, with contentious races in New York, North Carolina, California, and Washington State.
