WATCH: Reagan Alumni and Scientific American Endorse Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris continues to rack up major endorsements as the 2024 presidential campaign enters its final 50 days.

Seventeen Republicans who worked under former President Ronald Reagan have endorsed Vice President Harris, her campaign announced in a press release on Sunday.

In a blistering joint statement first obtained by CBS News, the former staffers wrote that if Reagan was still alive, he would have supported the Vice President.

"President Ronald Reagan famously spoke about a 'Time for Choosing.' While he is not here to experience the current moment, we who worked for him in the White House, in the administration, in campaigns, and on his personal staff, know he would join us in supporting the Harris-Walz ticket," the group writes.

"The time for choosing we face today is a choice between integrity and demagoguery, and the choice must be Harris-Walz," the group added. "Our votes in this election are less about supporting the Democratic Party and more about our resounding support for democracy."

The former Reagan staffers backing VP Harris include Ken Adelman, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and U.S. arms control director under Reagan and B. Jay Cooper, the special assistant and deputy press secretary to Reagan.

The Harris/Walz campaign also got a historic endorsement from an unexpected source: Scientific American, making a rare political move for only the second time in its 179-year history.

In their endorsement, Scientific American points out the drastic differences between VP Harris and Donald Trump, detailing how each of their potential presidencies could impact the planet based on health care, reproductive rights, climate action, and gun safety, among other pressing issues.

"Only one of these futures will improve the fate of this country and the world," the editors write. "That is why, for only the second time in our magazine’s 179-year history, the editors of Scientific American are endorsing a candidate for president. That person is Kamala Harris."
