People took to the streets of American cities coast to coast in the wake of the election results no one was expecting.
Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Cleveland, San Jose, Berkeley, and Portland, OR, were just a few major metropolitan areas that saw groups ranging from 200 to over 2000 expressing their rage that the country will have to endure at least one more Trump term amid fears that his MAGA cronies will ensure the end of free and fair elections.
Trump's potential Cabinet would be stacked with election and science deniers, anti-vaxxers, and others happy to violently implement the Project2025 agenda which will result in mass deportations, the dismantling of most government agencies with no replacements, and the end of all protections for women, communities of color, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized Americans.
In New York, activists gathered to unify ahead of a potential Trump dictatorship.
Several dozen people also gathered for a protest in Brooklyn's Cadman Plaza Park, chanting "Trump, hear us loud and clear, refugees are welcome here! Don't give in to racist fear, immigrants are welcome here!"
In Chicago, hundreds protested outside the Trump International Hotel. "Donald Trump, you fascist clown," protesters chanted. Several carried banners as they marched, including ones that read "End the Trump Era" and "Trump Out!"
In Portland, the National Guard was on standby as residential and commercial buildings in the downtown area were boarded up windows ahead of a planned protest in Pioneer Courthouse Square Wednesday night. Despite a large turnout, no incidences of violence were reported. But buildings remained boarded up on Thursday amid worries of a second night of protests.
