During a panel discussion on Kamala Harris' poll numbers, multiple panellists took aim at James Carville for his lack of faith in the likely candidate.
Carville has been a key Democratic strategist for decades, working on campaigns for Bill and Hillary Clinton as well as John Kerry. Since Kamala Harris' emergence as the likely candidate for the Democrats, the pundit has regularly thrown cold water on her campaign.
The panel talked about Carville on Morning Joe with Jennifer Palmieri saying, "I don't understand why James has to be a Debbie Downer. I don't know why we need to step on our enthusiasm, seriously. Democrats are enthusiastic, they're excited to have an answer to the question about who is the best person to take on Donald Trump."
She continued, "We've had really great week, her numbers are improving and I think it's true that the Republicans are caught off guard. They don't quite know how to attack her or, you know, what her ticket is going to end up being."
Symone Sanders-Townsend then jumped in:
"Folks talking about, oh, apparently, they didn't feel the president was speaking directly to the voters, the Democratic voters didn't want the president. They wanted something new and exciting; they didn't want this matchup, that's what James Carville said two days ago. He said, 72% of the country wants something different. Now that the 72% have gotten something a little different, now you're telling them don't be excited, you need to calm down? That this doesn't matter?"
