The Morning Joe hosts bashed Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin on Tuesday morning, claiming that he is hurting his future by lying for Donald Trump.
Whether or not he wins in November, Donald Trump won't be the leader of the Republican party much longer. The 78-year-old is deep into cognitive decline, and at some point, the GOP will come to grips with that fact, and the party will need a new standard bearer.
Glenn Youngkin, the Republican governor of Virginia, has a bright future with the party. But he is also on Team Trump and recently lied on CNN about things that the Republican candidate had said on video.
Joe Scarborough wondered, "We've been here before, Republicans know it — they keep lying for him. Again, I'm sorry, what's in it for Glenn Youngkin? I've never understood what was in it for him and what was in it for other people."
Mika Brzezinski then weighed in, "These things don't end well for everybody. It is inexplicable to me."
Scarborough continued:
"Why have Republicans been doing this for nine years? Especially when you get to the point where you're defending somebody, Glenn Youngkin is defending the use of the Army and the National Guard against Democrats, against Donald Trump's political opponents. that's where we are, that's where America is. That's where the Republican Party is. Three weeks from – can I say it now – the election of our lifetime."
