When speaking to reporters on Monday, Kamala Harris called Ron DeSantis' decision to refuse calls from her and Joe Biden an irresponsible choice.
The GOP is running out of ways to blunt the Democrats momentum in the 2024 election and their methods have just gotten worse over time. Currently, it seems that some lawmakers are willing to hurt their constituents in an effort to make Democrats look bad.
This is the tack that Ron DeSantis is taking. The Florida Governor is reportedly turning down calls and aid from Joe Biden and Harris. According to reports, DeSantis believes that aid from the Democrats would be politically motivated.
Harris was asked about DeSantis' actions while speaking with reporters today and she replied:
"People are in desperate need of support right now and playing political games at this moment in these crisis situations… it is utterly irresponsible, and it is selfish and it is about political gamesmanship instead of doing the job that you took an oath to do, which is to put the people first.”
The Vice President also noted that if DeSantis was at all the person he presented himself as being, he wouldn't be behaving like this, "Moments of crisis, if nothing else, should really be the moment that anyone who calls themselves a leader…puts politics aside and puts people first."
