After campaigning separately for weeks, Democratic running mates Kamala Harris and Tim Walz were reunited in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for another powerhouse rally in the must-win state barely a week before Election Day.
Vice President Harris held solo rallies in Saginaw County and Macomb County before meeting up with Gov. Walz and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Musician Maggie Rogers, who's hugely popular with the powerhouse GenZ demo that's boosted the Harris/Walz campaign since the beginning, performed for the college town crowd.
The Vice President has been spending plenty of time in Michigan over the last few weeks to focus on Black entrepreneurship with several appearances on Black media. While her opponent slams the state every time he visits, VP Harris has held events there with rapper Lizzo and Republican former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, and also campaigned in Kalamazoo on Saturday with former first lady Michelle Obama.
The sight of the Democratic ticket reunited certainly made the Ann Arbor crowd feel so good.
Gov. Walz delivered an energetic message to the crowd of mostly college students to rally them in the final week of the election, acknowledging the anxiety that young, first-time voters may be feeling during this election cycle.
“Here's the good news: If you're feeling any of that anxiety, any of that nervousness, any of that worry, we've got the solution for you. Get out there and vote for Kamala Harris. I know I did it last Wednesday with my son, who voted [for] the first time, and it works,” he said.
