During a Monday morning spot on CNN, John Berman delivered an immediate fact check when House Majority Whip Tom Emmer said that Harris and Biden broke the economy.
Emmer appeared in advance of Tim Walz and J.D. Vance's debate tomorrow night. While arguing why he thought Vance could carry the night, the Republican made some wild claims about the economy under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. But Berman was having none of the mistruths from the Minnesota Republican.
Emmer told Berman, "When people focus on the issues, and the issues are very clear for the American people, Donald Trump had a great economy and the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years (Biden and Harris actually have the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years)."
The Congressman continued, "Guess what, John? Kamala Harris and Joe Biden broke the economy; they opened the border and they've created all these problems around the globe."
Berman was having none of Emmer's nonsense. He responded, "Economist Mark Zandi just called this the greatest economy he's seen in 35 years. The unemployment rate has consistently been at 4% or lower, and GDP has been around 3% for the entire administration, comparing economic records, I am sure the candidates will do that."
