As Donald Trump ramps up his rhetoric against both immigrants and Kamala Harris, Al Sharpton posits that this increased desperation is a significant warning sign for the Trump campaign.
Donald Trump likes nothing more than to be in the news, and he was heavily covered this weekend. Most of the stories concerned his increasingly offensive rhetoric, where he encouraged a purge-style attack on criminals and called Kamala Harris mentally disabled, and as a result, were negative.
When discussing Trump's weekend, Al Sharpton opined, "I'm hearing that they are strategically laying out these last four and a half, five weeks, and their surrogates to really spread this out. I hope that is true, because you must not get down, if it's a boxing match, to the last few rounds, and then slow up because that's where you can be in danger of getting knocked out or counted out in terms of the scorecard."
The MSNBC pundit continued:
"Donald Trump is going to try, out of desperation, because he is looking at these poll numbers, he is looking at the fact that he's not filling up these rallies like he used to. He is going to be all over the place because he is desperate. But desperation could lead to defeat if there is a relaxation on the side of the Democrats, and here's a softball for them. This is a blatant lie that he is telling about what he did or did not do in terms of the Senate bill that could have dealt with the border. But a lie doesn't matter if everyone doesn't know he lied and understand the severity of that lie."
