Vice President Kamala Harris raised $47 million in the first 24 hours following her Tuesday night debate against Donald Trump, according to a Harris/Walz campaign spokesperson.
The massive (and massively impressive) total represents another huge boost to Harris’ fundraising operation, which has been raking in donations since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed VP Harris for President in July.
“This historic, 24-hour haul reflects a strong and growing coalition of Americans united behind Vice President Harris’ candidacy that knows the stakes this November, and are doing their part to defeat Donald Trump this November,” campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said.
VP Harris and Gov. Tim Walz had already begun September at a major financial advantage over the flailing Trump/Vance campaign.
The $47 million post-debate haul, which came from nearly 600,000 individual donors, now puts the Harris/Walz campaign's coffers at almost half a billion dollars.
It's just another blow to Trump's ego, which took a major hit after losing Tuesday night's debate so badly to Vice President Harris that he's refusing to honor the agreement to another and final debate.
One bonus from the historic fundraising effort: Vice President Harris has made a direct transfer of $2.5 million to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, the official party arm focused on statehouse contenders as part of a broader $25 million spread-the-wealth effort.
Meanwhile, Trump and Vance can barely fill a small theater.
The Vice President was back in Pennsylvania on Friday after two major rallies in North Carolina on Thursday.
