During an appearance on CNN Sunday morning, GOP strategist Doug Heye explained why Donald Trump is hurting his campaign by appearing in New York City on Sunday.

This week, Kamala Harris held a massive rally in Houston despite the fact that she doesn't have much of a chance at winning the state. But it was a massive event that featured Beyonce. The state also has a very competitive senate race between Colin Allred and Ted Cruz.
Donald Trump, who has no hope of winning in New York, is holding a rally in Madison Square Garden. Trump has absolutely no chance of winning his home state, but he is still rallying in the Northeast.
Heye believed that both Harris and Trump were making a mistake, saying, "Whether you're talking about Donald Trump or Kamala Harris, I'd say time spent out of the seven key states that are the swing states that could turn this election by and large is wasted time."
The GOP strategist continued:
"Your time is better spent in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Nevada, Arizona et cetera, than it is in Texas or in Washington, D.C. or in New York," he elaborated. "But with this Trump event yes, it's gonna get a lot of coverage –– although a lot of people, especially young males, who Trump wants to win with big margins, will probably be watching football."
