WATCH: GOP Rep. Uses Anti-Semitic Slur Against George Soros

During a recent interview on Fox News, Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett slurred businessman George Soros by calling him a 'money changer.'

The term comes from a biblical passage where Jesus Christ orders money changers to leave the Temple. The men in the passage are Jewish and the portrayal of Jewish people as greedy money lenders has been in use for centuries.

Like the Republican party, the Democrats have many very wealthy donors, one of whom is Soros. Due to his impact and his faith, the businessman is often a target of GOP lawmakers.

During the Fox spot, host Todd Piro noted that a Soros-involved group had recently taken over Audacy, a radio station ownership group. The host asked:

"The deal impacts 40 markets, reaching 165 million Americans. Oh, and by the way, let me add $60 million in Democrat contributions have been linked to George Soros this election season. The FCC expedited its normal approval process when it comes to foreign ownership of stations."

Burchett responded, "During the Second World War we did not allow foreign entities to own our radio systems. I think this is just an extension of that. You have a man that does not have America's interests at heart."

The Congressman continued, "He wants to destroy this country, and that's exactly as a money changer of the worst kind, and he will destroy this country and the economy with it, and this is why, more so than ever, we need Donald Trump in the White House. This kind of nonsense needs to stop."
