While speaking with Jimmy Kimmel this week, George Clooney cleverly responded to Donald Trump's demand that he stop talking about politics.
George Clooney played an outsized role in the 2024 election season. The actor was one of the most prominent names to call for Joe Biden to drop out of the race. He eventually did and Kamala Harris became the nominee and has since rode a wave of momentum.
Clooney wrote in an op-ed shortly after Biden had a disastrous debate performance, "It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”
“This is about age. Nothing more,” Clooney added. “But also nothing that can be reversed. We are not going to win in November with this president."
Trump very much wanted to take on Biden this fall and has performed horribly since Harris entered the race. Trump ranted shortly after Biden exited the race:
"So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act. He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are. What does Clooney know about anything?…Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!”
Kimmel asked Clooney about those comments and the actor responded, "I will if he does. That’s a trade-off I’d do."
