During a spot on Nicolle Wallace's MSNBC show, pundit Tim Miller said that Trump is regurgitating debunked conspiracy theories in public because they are being fed to him by his closest advisers.
Like the host Wallace, Miller was once heavily involved in Republican politics, working with John McCain and Jeb Bush. Miller changed course following Trump's takeover, and his experience within the GOP gives him special insight into the GOP machine.
During last night's debate, Donald Trump repeatedly pushed wild conspiracy theories, most notable one about Haitians eating cats. Miller opined:
"What this is, who Laura Loomer is, who was with him on the plane on the way to the debate, this is a woman who is an unapologetic Islamaphobe, who has said at one point that she wants there to be a white nation-state. Something to that effect. She's advanced a bunch of racist conspiracy theories."
The contributor elaborated on the cat eating story, "it wasn't even a Haitian migrant. And the whole thing is just flat racist. And it stemmed out of like this really tragic story in Springfield, where a young boy, Aiden Gray, was killed in a traffic accident by an actual Haitian migrant. But one — one time."
Miller closed, "The fact that the people who advance these lies — they're not in the basement. They're not on Reddit or 4chan. They're on Donald Trump's plane. And if he wins again, the people that are advancing these racist conspiracies are going to be the ones making policy for the country."
