WATCH: Dem Rep. Wants To Name Federal Prison After Donald Trump

There was nothing normal about Donald Trump's time as President. The Kennedy Center Honors weren't held because few artists were willing to show up. Championship winning sports teams largely passed on being in the same room as Trump. And his presidency ended with his supporters attacking the United States Capitol.

Still, Republicans want to honor Trump as if he was a normal and capable President. One proposal recently made by GOP lawmakers was the named Washington DC's Dulles Airport after the man. Democratic Congresspeople Jared Moskowitz and Gerry Connolly felt they needed to respond.

Connolly, Moskowitz and California's John Garamendi released a short bill this week at naming a prison in Florida, the "Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution."

Connolly explained his rationale during an MSNBC appearance on Sunday, telling Jonathan Capehart:

"Well, there’s a nice federal penitentiary right near Mar-a-Lago. And I just thought for a guy who’s now got 88 criminal indictments pending, criminal. Plus two major civil penalty trials that have already been resolved, costing him about a half $1 billion. I think it’s only fitting that if we if Republicans really want to honor Donald Trump, the most appropriate way to do that is to name a federal prison. He might be visiting soon."
