[WATCH/COMMENTARY] Kamala Harris Makes First Speech Since Biden Announcement

Vice President Kamala Harris stepped before cameras at the White House on Monday in her first official appearance as the Democratic Party's candidate for President.

Already endorsed by President Joe Biden, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack and Michelle Obama, among other Democratic powerhouses, VP Harris is collecting a record number of donations while the list of endorsements grows by the hour.

The VP had been scheduled to meet with NCAA athletes today, which had been announced last week. But first, she spoke about the generosity shown to her by President Biden in both his endorsement and his actions.

President Biden wasn't in attendance as he's still recovering from Covid. Saying she was "deeply, deeply grateful" to the President for his "service to our nation," VP Harris went on to define who Joe Biden is.

"I am a firsthand witness that every day, our President Joe Biden fights for the people," she said, calling his legacy "unmatched in modern history."

Most Americans are unaware of the long friendship between VP Harris and the Biden family. She spoke about how she first got to know Joe Biden through his son, Beau, who served as Delaware Attorney General when she was California Attorney General. Beau Biden died from brain cancer in 2015.

As Democrats enter into the final 106 days of the race, the endorsements for their new presidential candidate have been rolling in along with record donations topping nearly $100 million at press time.
