WATCH: College Student Who Went Viral Schooling JD Vance Gets Another Chance on MSNBC

A student from Michigan's Oakland University is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame after a post-vice Presidential debate of him schooling JD Vance on Civics went viral.

Political Science major Marcus Johnson was just one in a roomful of students chosen by NBC News to share their thoughts on how the candidates--Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Senator JD Vance--performed once the debate telecast had ended.

Johnson pushed back at Vance's constant criticism of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris for "not accomplishing" more of her policy goals during her time as vice president, as Vance's lack of knowledge was glaringly on display.

"Cause if anybody took high school civics class, they'd know what the vice president can do and what the vice president can't do," Johnson told NBC's Jacob Soboroff after the debate.

But Marcus wasn't done delivering the Civics lesson too many Americans needed to hear. "Neither candidate on that stage talked about what executive action they're going to take on day one," he said, "Because they know that they can't. That's not how the vice presidency works."

Johnson's viral response landed him even more TV time on Wednesday when he joined MSNBC's Joy Ann Reid to discuss the interview and how it's already impacted his life.

Johnson said he didn't know about the clip spreading around until friends told him later.

"I went to my dorm room, and I went to sleep," he told Reid. "I woke up this morning and I got a bazillion notifications" on Twitter.
