UAW Sues Musk and Trump For "Worker Intimidation" Comments During Twitter Space [OP-ED]

Aside from spending their time Monday night on a glitchy Twitter Space lying and bullying Vice President Kamala Harris, Elon Musk and Donald Trump also managed to anger the United Auto Workers union (UAW) by threatening to intimidate workers who go on strike.

The UAW responded with a lawsuit, filing separate labor charges against Trump and Musk with the National Labor Relations Board.

UAW president and Trump critic Shawn Fain has previously called Trump a “scab.”  And Fain has repeatedly singled out Musk's company Tesla, the largest non-union American automaker, as a target for the union’s organizing efforts.

“When we say Donald Trump is a scab, this is what we mean. When we say Trump stands against everything our union stands for, this is what we mean,” says Fain in UAW's press statement.

“Donald Trump will always side against workers standing up for themselves, and he will always side with billionaires like Elon Musk, who is contributing $45 million a month to a Super PAC to get him elected," Fain said.

"Both Trump and Musk want working-class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns.”

Conversely, President Joe Biden became the first sitting President to stand on a picket line with striking auto workers, earning Fain's respect and endorsement. UAW quickly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign as well.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg also showed his support for UAW's lawsuit, tweeting "This is what Donald Trump thinks of collective bargaining."

The Trump campaign responded by calling the suit a political orchestration by “Democrat special interest bosses.”
