People Share Their "Accidently Caught My Partner" Cheating Horror Stories

Having someone you can spend your bad and happy days with is something to cherish. However, there are some moments in our lives that we cannot control.

Imagine yourself sitting on the couch waiting for your partner to come home and end up discovering something that breaks your heart.

These people from the Reddit Community shared their sudden discovery of their partner’s cheating scheme. Check these out!

1. Changed Name

My college girlfriend and I lived together for a year after I realized she would always have her phone on silent or just plain ignore calls from "Jennifer."

One day, I write down the number and call it a week later.

It ends up being her other boyfriend, who she had never broken up with before she came to college. Neither of us knew about each other, and she had been visiting him when she went home to see her parents on some weekends and breaks.

Broke up soon after, and her mom said that sometimes you just have to accept things and that I owed her an apology for breaking up with her. It gets worse, but that was the gist.

2. Anniversary Surprise

Not me, but a medical resident that  I met on rotation recently. One of the nicest guys I ever met, super intelligent and hardworking, and training to be a trauma surgeon as humble as they come. He had been married for 2 years to his wife.

One night, he gets off a 30-hour call early and heads home to surprise his wife with flowers and her favorite dessert (the anniversary of the day they first met).

Only to find her in bed with a random dude.

He was so exhausted and confused that he didn’t know what to do and just left and went back to the hospital. I saw him at 5 AM, sitting in the parking lot, hunched over, crying. He didn’t even have his phone, and he was just sitting there. Man, nothing breaks your heart more than seeing a grown man cry.

It’s not something you see often. We called his dad up, and he came and picked him up. The guy ended up taking a leave from his residency. Turns out, it wasn’t the wife’s first time sleeping around. Hope he gets back on his feet. He will make an amazing physician.

3. The Surprise

Walked in on my girlfriend while she was making out with another guy.

Me: [deep breaths] What are you doing here?!

Her: [sarcastic tone] You gave me a key, remember? I ended up not working today and wanted to surprise you.

15 years later, she reached out and left me a message that she’d like to talk. I figured she was doing some 12-step thing or something and wanted to make amends.

Nope. She wanted to try and sell me on Amway.

4. Worst Birthday

Woke up to her on her phone with hearts scrolling in Facebook Messenger. Take note that we were married 7 years at that point with  2 kids.

Also, it was my birthday.

I won’t feign total innocence: marriage is hard. I was working and in school full time so she could be a stay-at-home mom, which was our goal. She realized she wanted something else and moved on. Crap happens. Roll with the punches.

5. Obvious Lies

Came home early.

They were fast enough to get dressed but not in a natural state of being if that makes sense. It was obvious something was just going down. Very cliched, “got walked in on and tried to play it cool,” as you see on TV. I asked him to leave, and he did.

We argued. She tried to lie but soon confessed.

It wasn’t the first time she cheated, but it was the first time that I caught her in the act. Everything in the past was just texts and stuff. She said that she never slept with the other people, and it was just pics and flirting.

In retrospect, that may not be BS.

We divorced, and both remarried. Not friends by any stretch, but civil.

6. Pointless Therapy

Went to log into his email, and a suggested one that I didn't recognize popped up. I answered all his security questions and reset his password to find emails between him and the neighbor.

We were in therapy to recover from him cheating with her, and there they were waxing poetic about their love and when I'd be out of the house so they could be together.

The actual horror is that our 7-year-old daughter is the one who accidentally caught them originally by walking into our bedroom while I was at work.

7. Family Trip Went Wrong

I was at Disney with our kids on day 2 of a 7-day family trip her father had been, by that point, talking up for about 7 years. He and her mother told us when the kids were born, they were going to take us all to Disney when they turned 7.

And seven years later, it finally happened.

At that point, we'd been together for over a decade. Had a great job, a house, a bunch of kids, and the full-on, 100%, honest-to-goodness American Dream. Life was grand.. until I picked up her phone to set the alarm on night 2 of our family vacation of a lifetime.

There were so many texts. So many. I remember actually wanting to hurt her and having to leave the room. I immediately called the number and heard some freaking strange dude answer with a sleepy, "...Hello darling... I'm glad to hear from you.."

I wanted to die. The sense of unreality that I experienced... It was immediately numbing. It's like I'd just switched to the dark timeline. All I could think was, "...from this point on, everything that I have known about my life is going to change.".

8. Serial Cheater

Had an acquaintance, a serial cheater, who was outed by her husband because her WhatsApp was mirrored on their common laptop. She was apparently texting her paramour right next to him as they were in bed. Turns out that the guy was working on the laptop and saw the whole gory thing in real time, screenshots and all.

He dumped the whole thing on FB, tagged her sister, and all that. Their FB pages were a mine of drama for days on end.

She also once got a hickey on her neck from another paramour and then burnt her neck using a hair iron to cover it up. How do I know? She called my wife at 0330, asking if she could borrow my wife's hair iron.

9. The News

Obligatory, not me, but a friend. And I've posted this story twice before:

In the early 2000s, my friend's husband was deployed to Iraq. Together, they had a 10-year-old son and a happy marriage. One day, while he was deployed, I was at home when another one of our friends called and screamed, "Holy moly, turn on the news right now!"

I turn it on to watch a human interest story about a fundraiser at a high school 30 miles away. They're doing Relay for Life or something, and as a "surprise" to one of the participants, they had her "husband" and father of her two-grade school children do a video call from Iraq and display it on the football jumbotron.

There on our local news is my friend's husband, telling another woman and two kids how he loves them and can't wait to get back home to them. The news eats it up about what a great guy he is.

That night, our group of friends convened and decided how we would tell her. I was nominated, so the next day, I had to sit her down and tell her what we saw. She called the news station, and they were happy to let her come in and watch the story.

They were also incredibly apologetic.

The story has a somewhat crappy ending, I'm afraid. She called him out on his BS, they started divorce proceedings, and he went on to legally marry the mother of his other kids and mostly ignored his son from the first marriage.

10. Literal Accident

I returned from work on Christmas Eve. We had tickets to a festival that started the day before New Year's Eve, and I couldn't find the tickets anywhere after seeing them the month before.

I decided to double-check the trash before we put it out for collection. I found a used condom.

We lived on our own.

11. The Good Buddy

I dated this girl a few years back, and I became really good friends with her brother just because he appreciated my help during a difficult time for their family (their father had abruptly passed away).

2 years into the relationship, the brother contacted me and asked to meet up for coffee and a serious conversation.

Apparently, HE caught his own sister with another guy (a mutual friend of ours), and this crap had been going on for like a year.

As soon as he found out, I was told.

Broke up with her. Still friends with her brother. Go figure.

12. Secret Application

Caught my now ex-husband. Something was way off; I was 6 months pregnant with our second child, and my best friend at the time was also off. Picked up his phone at 2 AM when it went off and found a secret password-locked messenger (GO messenger?)

The password was his birthday, a real winner. I found over 7k messages along with photos, some insinuating I was present with either one of them while they were messaging.

I was upset and woke him up. He locked himself in the bathroom and pulled out the attempted to end his life card. There’s another year of trying to work out shenanigans after this incident, but I’m so glad that chapter in my life is over.

13. Went Blank

Came back from a trip four hours early. My wife was supposed to be at work still. Opened the front door to see her sitting topless on the couch, making out with a coworker.

He ran out the door; she ran into a bathroom and locked the door.

I sat on that couch for about an hour because I couldn’t think of what else to do. Finally, I just stood up and left so she could come out of the bathroom and put a shirt on.

14. Ghosted Out

Me and my girlfriend were long-distance, and she had a habit of going quiet sometimes. She’d been texting me for the last few weeks but had made excuses not to come visit.

I went to a party that my friend had organized.

I met a friend of his who told me he had a new girlfriend. I was surprised he hadn’t mentioned her, so I asked who she was.

This lady introduced me to my girlfriend.

She’d told everyone that we had broken up and had been dating my friend for about a month. She didn’t bother to tell me.

15. The Sad Truth

Long story short, I suspected something for a few months. Like an idiot, I opened her phone while she was asleep and found exactly what I was looking for like you always do when searching through someone else’s phone.

Even with all of the texts right there to see, she still lied about it multiple times. She eventually admitted to it but downplayed it heavily.

She told me about two nights ago that he asked her out on a date, and she said, “I had to say no,” and was visibly sad about it.

In the process of getting a divorce now. Hurts like hell.

16. The Big Reveal

One of my former co-workers loaded in an SD card with a scanned project file on it. He put it into the conference room PC, and we were treated to revealing pics of his wife making out with another guy.

We were just stunned.

This was in a senior budgetary meeting with the outside accountants and auditors.

And he was sitting right there, and we were looking at his wife and another guy going at it. I reached over and shut the projector off. Nobody said anything.

He got up, walked out, and drove off in his car. Left his phone and laptop sitting on the table. He wound up driving to his parent’s house 3 states away.

He was gone for a week.

17. Two Guys

I had my suspicions for a couple of months, but no evidence or anything. My ex lived about 40 miles from me, and we were 18. Dated and went to high school together for 3 years. She would come down to the city on weekends to spend time with me.

I knew she had another group of friends in her town, and a few were guys, which didn't bother me. But I woke up in the middle of the night and messaged her on Facebook, only to notice she had been tagged in a photo with one of her friends.

He was holding her up and kissing her. It was his new profile picture. I messaged the guy and calmly asked what was going on.

He immediately responded and was confused.

We decided to meet up for coffee the next morning when my ex was over. And the look on her face was priceless when she saw him walk in and sit beside me. She begged for our forgiveness and claimed she loved us both.

Turned out it had been going on for 7 months. And that every time she left my place during the weekends, she was returning home to him for the week. Me and the other guy are now best friends and share a house with my fiancee and his girlfriend.

18. Weird Confusion

I found out my ex-boyfriend (dated from 15-18) had been cheating on me when, upon walking into the apartment he shared with his mother and two elementary-aged sisters, the youngest sister asked me something that made everything clear.

Her: When did you leave?

Me: When was I here?

Her: You were here all night. I could hear you talking to [ex’s name].

I had not been there for two days at that point. I asked him what she was talking about, and he blew bubbles for a few minutes before confessing.

Good riddance.

19. Plan Went Well

One day, my husband was getting ready for work, and I saw him packing his GoPro case to take it to work. I thought, “Hmmm, that’s weird. Why would he be taking it to work?” So, when he jumped into the shower, I replaced his GoPro with mine and thought I’d look through the files when he left for work.

My suspicions were on alert because he had just taken a trip to the PI with some friends.

A guy's only weekend kind of thing. Fire up the camera and found 3 videos... Lo’ and behold... there he is in all his glory, barebacking a prostitute.

He was looking and posing for the camera like he was some freaking adult star. I was enraged, but also looking at this fool acting like he’s a freaking adult film star was hilarious.

20. Wrong Person

I met this girl who was working the late shift at a drugstore. We'd flirted a few times, eventually exchanged numbers, and started sleeping together. After a few weeks, she invited me to go drinking at this crappy little bar she liked on the north side of the city.

So we spent the night dancing together, drinking, and talking to people she knew. Eventually, a guy comes up to me.

Guy: Great to meet you finally! Congratulations on the engagement!

Me: [laughing as I choked on my drink a bit] What are you talking about?

Guy: [quizzical look] You're here with Corrie. It's Paul, right!?

I raised an eyebrow and pointed a thumb to my chest.

Me: Nah man, name's Kyle

We stared at each other, watching each other realize what was playing out on this faithful night.

The woman was engaged to a guy named Paul, and I was the other guy. Paul worked out of town for weeks at a time. It was actually interesting how you literally could see the word travel around the small bar, drastically changing the vibe in the room. We left shortly after.

She brought me, the guy she was cheating on her fiance with, to her favorite bar. She brought me to a place full of friends who at least knew her well enough to know she was engaged to a guy named Paul, not Kyle.

Messed up stuff. Didn't see her again after that.

According to Facebook, they are currently married.

21. Girl’s Day

Not my relationship, but my boyfriend’s Mom took me out to lunch to get to know me better. We really kicked it off and had a great lunch.

She had to run home because she forgot to grab a gift for a shower we had to attend after, and we found her husband ducking the neighbor on the couch...

She was mortified and never the same around me again.

Her son and I split because of that (he didn’t think his Dad was wrong because his mom gained weight- as in she was now 140, 5’6”, and not 120), so I never found out what happened.

22. The Female Friend

I went home, and my husband wasn't home, which was weird for him at 8 pm when an hour earlier, he had told me he was going home. Had a gut feeling and went to one of our female friends (who he claimed was like a sister) apartment. His truck was there.

I knocked. No answer. I tried the door, but it was unlocked.

I walked into the living room, and nobody was there. Hear noises in the bedroom. Walk in, and lo and behold, there they are. Tried to make it work over the next couple of months, but I couldn't get past it. I didn't even want him to touch me.

Divorced 4 years ago.

23. Ready To Fail

Things had been a little shaky as I was working a lot and felt stressed when she wanted to go be social with friends, so I often stayed home.

I wanted to do something nice for her for Valentine's Day, so I sent her friend a text asking if there was something that she may have mentioned she would like to do.

As I was waiting for that text, I was in another room. I saw her phone buzz with her friend's name. The number was below the name, and since I had just sent her a text, I knew they didn't match.

There are very few times my blood has been that cold, and feelings of dread.

I called the number with my phone, and it rang and rang before going to voicemail. Needless to say, it was the other guy.

I confronted her about it, and she said she was waiting to leave and had a bag packed in case I found out. She had no intentions of trying to work things out, so a month later, she moved out.

I made a decision then that I could be broken up and miserable or that I could choose to be happy and be open to a relationship if it was available. I've since remarried and have two beautiful boys with my amazing wife.

Regardless of the crappiness and horror in these stories, there is always the opportunity to be happy. If you're reading this thread because it happened to you or just from morbid curiosity, choose to be happy. Be the person that you can be proud of and move on to better things.

24. Social Media Drama

A friend of mine literally walked in on his wife and another guy doing it on their sofa. I guess he just yelled, "WHAT THE FREAK?" and ran out.

Facebook was a real crapshow for a few days...and she even had the gall to blame him back, the old, "It's your fault I cheated."

Luckily, there were no children in that marriage and not much money to fight over.

25. Live And Proud

Had been on the road for work. It was supposed to be 10 days, but I got to go home a day early. Had a friend pick me up at the airport to surprise my wife and 2 children (2 years and 8 months).

Walked into my ex and her 'coffee friend' snuggling on the couch. With. My. Kids. In. The. Same. Room.

I was livid. Of course, she denied everything. We split up weeks later.

26. Bill Reveal

I got a new job with a cell phone company. Free phone for me 15 a month for her. The first bill comes in with call details. She was on the phone an hour a day with this number while supposedly at work.

I called, and the dude answered. I hung up. I asked her, and she lied and said it was a gal pal of hers.

I told her I knew she was lying and called it again. Dude answered. Fudge you, Brooke.

27. Dog Scratch

After a night of trying to keep up with my ex and her coworker’s drinking, I call it a night. They stopped talking a few minutes later, and the dog scratched at the door. I let the dog in and saw them making out on the couch.

I watched for ten minutes before they noticed me. They were taking their clothes off by then, and he was touching her favorite spots as he knew them well. No denying it by then.

I am glad I knew.

A tense conversation followed with the two of them. He left, very drunk on a very cold night. She got a ride to her aunt's place and begged me to go look for him in the cold.

28. Big Mistake

This just happened two days ago.

I was in Florida on vacation with my girlfriend of 6 years, our four-year-old son, her family, and a few of her friends. She had been taking pictures down at the beach all afternoon on her phone.

We returned to the house we were staying at, and everyone was making dinner in the kitchen. I picked up her phone and opened it up to text my family the pictures she had taken.

As I was scrolling through the thread, I saw her ex-boyfriend’s name. Open up the messages, and first thing, there are videos of them doing something with their private parts that they had sent to each other. I yelled, “What the fudge is this?”

Her mom turned toward me and asked what was wrong, and I loudly proclaimed what I’d seen. She said that she had gone out with some friends, gotten drunk, invited him out for a drink, and ended up blowing coke all night.

Then, she said she got blackout drunk the next night and sent the videos. She claimed that was the only time she’d seen him.

Yeah, so when she fell asleep, of course, I went through her phone again. She’d seen him multiple times throughout the previous two months, and I found pictures of them together posing like a cutesy couple on their dates.

Her brother and Dad were PISSED. I got the fudge out there the next morning. It ruined the vacation for pretty much everyone and totally wrecked our family.

29. The Hoodie

One night, she told me not to come over because she wasn't feeling well. But then my sister wanted this hoodie back that she'd borrowed, so I thought I'd stop over with chocolate and a Slurpee. I knocked on her door. She came to the upstairs window with only a blanket wrapped around her.

Her: I thought I told you not to come over!

Me: My sister needs her hoodie.

“Who's that?" says some male voice from her bedroom.

Me: Ah. I see how it is.

Her: I'll talk to you tomorrow

Me: Probably not. Have a good one.

30. The Letter

Christmas Eve, I went into the computer to find a photo for a last-minute gift, an ornament with a family photo I did for her as a tradition every year.

Instead, I found a love letter from some guy at the gym to her. Then, I kept looking and found tons more.

Over the next year, it just got worse and worse to a point you'd never believe.

Gosh, that was a fun Christmas for me and our young children.

31. Odd Relationship

Not me...my dad. :/

He told me the story a few years back.

So...some of my mom’s family were visiting from out of town, and they had planned a night at the bingo, which my dad couldn’t attend because he was working 6 pm-2 am.

He finished work early and, on his way home, saw my babysitter on the street. « You are not with u/bassman1976 ? » «No, your wife called me at around 8 pm, saying she wasn’t feeling well and would stay home. »

My dad drove home and tried the front door. Locked, no lights. He entered the house by the basement door. Went up the stairs. Heard them a few feet away. My mom. And her cousin.

2 years later, he almost left her (with me in tow) but stayed so I could have a normal life. Most of the time, I wish he’d left because he wouldn’t have worked 90-100 a week to avoid being home and could’ve been happier.

For those who are wondering, my mom had a longtime affair with her cousin, starting before she met my dad. She wasn’t happy either, I think, but my dad was a good catch.

Yes, I’m sure he is my dad (we look so much the same). Yes, they are still together, and after a year of being angry, I decided to let go because their relationship had nothing to do with me. Just sad for both of them.

32. Review Reveal

Using an alt account because, duh.

My wife had been texting A LOT and was very evasive when I inquired about it, though she smirked when she thought it was making me jealous (yeah, she's that kind of person).

Turns out she'd left her email logged into my cell phone. So I noticed that she had a weekend Airbnb trip to a place that was a state away (we were living in different states at the time) that seemed to be of the "quiet romantic getaway" type. Total occupancy: 2. Hmmm....well, I thought that was fairly suspicious.

So, I monitored her Airbnb page, which was easy since we were friends on Airbnb, figuring that the owner might leave a comment about how great she was as a guest. Which it turned out she did.

Except the review went something like, "(wife's name) and (guy not named me) were wonderful guests," and so on.

Yeah, so does anyone want to guess what the conditional probability is of that weekend trip involving infidelity? Pretty sure it's high.

My wife apparently panicked, asked Airbnb to remove the review, altered her name on the site (?), and then finally, having failed to get the review taken down, deleted her account.

I eventually asked her about it during a counseling session. She had a ready-made defense about how she'd meant to take the trip with another coworker. Still, that person's car broke down, so (guy's name) ended up tagging along since (guy's name) was that coworker's boyfriend, and they all stayed there together, but (guy's name) signed the guestbook, hence a totally honest mistake.

In hindsight, I am pretty sure she was not telling the truth.

We are not still married.

33. Gamer Boy

Not me, but one of my best mates and his girlfriend snuck a guy into their one-bedroom apartment while he was playing Xbox in the living room!!! I heard the argument through the mic after he heard a noise coming from the bedroom. He kicked her out and continued playing with us.

Edit: Alrighty, this certainly blew up. To the people saying my buddy deserved it because he is “addicted” to video games, I don’t know where you got that from. He only plays when there is a bit of spare time, and she is just a crap person.

After he caught them in the act and kicked her out, he came back onto the mic to tell us what happened and to get off the game. We encouraged him to stay on and talk everything through with us (we were in different countries at the time and couldn’t see him in person) because we were worried.

Their relationship had been a little rocky, but who would guess someone would cheat, especially in the next room? He is a great guy who did not deserve that to happen to him.

He is now in a healthy relationship with a wonderful lady.

34. Mysterious Feet

After a week of visiting friends in London, England, I flew back to Canada. When I got back, I was supposed to do something with another group of friends, but plans fell through, so I drove the 4 hours home to the apartment we shared.

She expected me home at 6 pm...I'd been up for 30 straight hours and got home at 6 am, wanting nothing more than to fall into bed.

There was an extra set of feet attached to some jerkward when I walked in.

[deleted]

35. Horrible Experience

Not mine, but my brother. He was at a small party with two friends and his wife. He got tired and wanted to head home. His wife stayed behind. She gave some lame excuse and begged off going with him. It was alright, he thought. His best buddy was there and would make sure she got home safe for him.

He got in his car. Pulled out of the driveway. Before he could get on down the block, he checked his rearview and noticed the room in the house they were all in had gone dark.

He'd suspected for a time something was up with her. They had a child together. She died at the sitter. It was ruled SIDS.

She had grown colder in the months after the baby died. He never thought anything like what he was about to see was possible.

It was more of a deep-seated feeling that something was up, but she never let him in, and they didn't work through the loss together. Seeing the lights out crystalized the situation for him, and he turned right around.

The house was dark. The front door was still unlocked. He walked right in and to the only room with any light. He opened the door to find his best friend and another "acquaintance" double-teaming his soon-to-be ex.

He hasn't really been the same since...

36. Car’s Outside

2 weeks ago, I sent a message to a mutual friend asking to borrow a router. He didn't answer, but no worries, he lives nearby. I'll just stop by and grab it. I pull up to his house and start heading down the driveway. He has a long country driveway, so it's a few seconds before I see my car (I drive a company vehicle during the day) already there.

My heart began to sink, but they were friends and business partners. Maybe it's nothing. I got out of my van and looked up to see the other guy shirtless in his bedroom.

At this point, my heart is down on my stomach, and I am visibly shaking. I went in and immediately headed upstairs.

He was alone, now clothed. I said, " I came to borrow the router. Also, have you seen my wife? The car is here."

He then proceeds to give the worst reason I've ever heard. "Huh? No, she was here at some point though". Whatever, I knew she was there; I just wanted him to admit it.

I went down, took the router, and headed back to the van, where I finally encountered my wife topless, trying to sneak around the side of his house.

And now, here I am

37. Phone Of Secrets

I was on a very rare date night with kids at the grandparent's house. I'm looking extra cute, so I didn't even want to carry a purse or my cell. I used his phone on the way to the restaurant to confirm our reservations.

After eating, I used his phone again to get the movie times via text. Saw a name in the frequently sent and asked him innocently, "Who is Lisa?" He snatched the phone and said, "My coworker."

3 hours later, and I'm throwing his clothes into his car after going online and viewing the hundreds of texts sent to several women.

But still, I was a fool for love and opted to stay. I was with him my entire adult life, so I didn't know anything different. That was 2006. We had our 19th anniversary in January. My divorce was final in March. He got married to ANOTHER one of his many affairs in June. I'm enjoying being unattached and becoming an empty nester as of this fall.

38. Data Consumption

I caught my ex thanks to freaking Pokemon Go, of all things.

She mentioned Pokemon Go was using lots of her data. I explained that in her settings, she could see how much data an app was using.

I proceeded to show her and proved to her it wasn't by pointing out Tinder was using much more data...

It was sad but also funny the way it went down.

I've posted this before, but it's still funny to remember.

39. Melted Gum

It didn’t happen to me, but my closest friend growing up. He was making out with his girlfriend in the back of her car (which she had only had for a week), and he put his hand on the back of the car somewhere between the back of the headrests and the rear windshield.

I guess it's the opposite of a dashboard.

Anyways he put his hand in a semi-fresh load of jizz. And her answer was that her gum must have flown from her mouth and landed back there, and the sun melted it into a jizz like substance!

40. That’s An Oops Moment

Got in his car. The seat was pushed all the way back, and there was a bracelet on the floor.

The first thing I asked was if he had cleaned off the seat when he had finished.

He said yes. Then he realized he was talking to his girlfriend, not one of the many friends who knew about his affair.

The best part is we were all packed up for a weekend out of town for his cousin’s wedding. His parents were in the car behind us. I went. We didn’t speak the entire weekend.

41. Gut Feeling

I’ve posted about this before, but he changed his phone password. I left it for months until something just wasn’t sitting right in my gut. I unlocked his phone with my thumb, and I didn’t even have to look - there was a messaging app open with a girl he was meeting the next day.

I sent him to work without confronting him. I reset passwords through a long chain of emails to finally access the one associated with the messaging app.

Lo and behold, he was sending approximately ten thousand emails per year for the last four years of our relationship. He was living a whole second life and hiding it from everyone.

Our relationship had never APPEARED stronger, and we had been seeing a therapist to work on strengthing our communication for eight months, once a week (clearly, he was hiding his issues from the therapist as well.)

At the time, I felt like it ruined my life. I remember thinking very clearly, “What did I do to deserve this?” When I thought that, something inside of me just snapped. I calmly went and bought a giant coffee and cardboard boxes.

I packed all his things up before he was home from work and changed our locks.

The end.

42. No Choice

Not me, but a close friend had an affair with another close friend and got caught because she lost an earring in the bed. After the entire blowout of a friend group and lots of shaming on both of them, she says he took advantage of her, and everyone is stunned and doesn't know what to do.

So, to prove he didn't do it, he had to show his wife and the police home security footage of the woman riding him like a horse while he was handcuffed.

So he cheated, then was accused of it, and got to top it off by showing his wife a tape with another woman.

43. Business Trip

We lived in one city. Not living together. A mutual friend posted on Facebook how happy she was to see "Him and *other woman* in *other city* over the weekend.

I messaged her and asked if she could confirm my suspicions. She said she didn't realize he and I were still together and apologized for the post. I thanked her. She told me that he and this other woman have been together for three years now. I was dating him for one.

I texted him and asked what was up. He said it was a business trip. I called him out. He asked if we could meet up when he's back in the city because "he doesn't want to defend himself over the phone."

I told him to either talk to me over the phone or he's never seeing or hearing from me again.

It's been almost a year.

44. Out of Pity

Had a weird, sinking feeling that something wasn’t right with the new friend from college. Opened his phone after he randomly changed the lock screen (he gave me the password drunk) and saw all the notes.

They were kind of odd, so I confronted him, only to be told I was crazy and it was nothing. Went to work and messaged her on Facebook since I now knew her name.

Turns out he said I was away in the hospital and was pretending to date me for my mental health and that they could date for real.

We both confronted him, and she decided to date him again and slandered me. Just found out he cheated on her, though, which is some sweet justice.

45. Christmas Heartbreak

Came home early from work on Christmas Eve, mind you. As I pulled into the parking lot, I had a weird thought of wanting to see if there were any cars I didn't recognize. Thought it was a silly thought, so I parked my car and went inside.

As I walked to the top of the stairs towards our bedroom, my husband immediately walked out and closed the door behind him.

I had to ask him twice if there was a girl in there, and he finally said yes.

He also made me stand in the kitchen so I couldn't see who she was as she walked out.

Took me three years before I could enjoy Christmas again.

46. Found Out Late Or Early?

Well, he wasn't my spouse, but he had proposed to me that morning. He said he had to go to work to cover a shift, but when he didn't call me for his dinner break, as he usually did when he worked that shift, I got worried (He was an LEO) and called him.

Someone else picked up his phone and explained that the "guy whose phone this is, yeah, I think he went up to a room with his girlfriend. We have it down here waiting for him." They were at a hotel.

Turns out he used it as an excuse to sleep with another woman he knew from when they were in the academy together and had been seeing each other for a while. She was married.

The next morning, when he came to pick me up so we could get our parents to take them to brunch and announce the news, I refused to go with him. In hindsight, I should've waited until we were all at brunch, and he had paid the bill to confront him for the free food, but I was young and dumb.

47. Ready To Go

5 months ago, I caught my soon-to-be ex-wife messaging with a mutual friend of ours on Facebook.

She had started to get close to him and had a drunken night with him when I found out that she had kissed him and started to have feelings for him.

She then stormed out the door when I confronted her, with an overnight bag, slept with him, and has not come home since.

4 years and 1 1/2 married down the drain.

48. The Effect Of Heartbreak

Went to a tournament in a different city for the weekend and decided to come home early because I had some bad luck and lost. ( little did I know it was about to get worse ). I arrived home early Sunday morning instead of the evening.

Also, this was my birthday and 2 days away from our 4 year anniversary. I came home to find her with another guy in our bed. I never had so much emotion run over me at once. It was like a tidal wave of fear, anxiety, anger, depression, confusion, and betrayal had slammed down on me, and I was drowning in it.

I didn't know what to do, so I just said I was done and left. I went to my mother's house to crash for a few days and get myself together, and when I arrived, I found my mother high on heroin with my high school best friend.

The tidal wave hit harder this time, and the drowning sensation became more intense. I didn't know what to do at this point and lost it. I punched my once-best friend as hard as I could, then just left.

I found a real friend who was willing to let me crash for a while. I was emotionally numb for months, feeling nothing was better than feeling something. It was too soon to try and process all that emotion.

I eventually got my crap together, though, and I'm in a much better place. I've become a sous chef at one of the nicer restaurants in town and have officially moved out with my girlfriend of one year.

Sorry for the rant and this may have taken a different turn than most posts. But something I haven't shared with anyone and figured I should let it out.

49. Email Of Surprise

He left his email open.

A ton of Craigslist emails. He used a fake name to try to be sneaky. Anyway, I decided to open one of the emails. Boom chick with a guy’s private part. Asked wtf, and he said it was my fault. A going trend with him.

The day after I left him I got a call from the cops saying he was trying to entice a minor. Like To Catch a Predator crap.

Well, that’s my story.

50. A Message From Heaven

My first long-term girlfriend and I were going to go to the same college. I got accepted but had to start the semester after she did, meaning we would be slightly long-distance for a few months.

It wasn't too bad because we were only about 2 hours apart, so it was pretty easy to visit, but our relationship did struggle a bit. I remember one night, I got a phone call from her, and when I picked up, it was obvious it was a butt dial. I could hear her talking to some guy but couldn't make out what they were saying.

I called her, and she picked up. I asked what was up. She said she was in bed and about to go to sleep. I told her about the butt dial, and she said it was her friend Jack, who I met asking to borrow something. I thought it was odd but brushed it off.

A couple of weeks later, I was up there visiting her, and I met a bunch of cool people, including this guy Luke. After I got back from visiting, I got a Facebook message from him saying, "Look, man, I hate to be the one to say this, but I think you're an awesome guy, and you don't deserve this to be happening to you. She's been cheating on you with this guy pretty soon after she started here."

I was devastated, but I had to hear it from her, so I called her.

Me: Are you cheating on me?

Her: [heavy sigh] Well, at least I don't have to lie anymore.

That guy's voice I had heard wasn't Jack, and it was the guy she was cheating on me with. I just trusted her so much that I took her word for it.

Even though it was painful, I was grateful for Luke sending me that message. What's funny is that most of the people I met up there who were her friends sided with me after the breakup, so when I started going there that next semester, I had a group of friends to support me, and most of them were still very close friends of mine to this day.

51. A Liar And A Cheater

This happened to me with my first long-term girlfriend. But rather than a friend of hers telling me, it was straight up the guy she slept with.

He messaged me the day after a party she held at her house while I was out of town. He said he regretted it, and it was in the moment. I knew that guy had a thing for her. He was nice about it and very apologetic, but I was obviously angry.

But when confronted about it, she denied it 100%.

A good friend of mine and even her friend all texted me, telling her what she did. I am to this day grateful for their honesty, even if it was their friend they were betraying.

52. The Seat Shown It All

I’m 5’6” on a good day and got in the passenger seat of her car, and it was all the way back. I just casually asked why since, in our 5years of owning it, I couldn’t recall a time when it was that far back.

It snowballed from there.

A little backstory since there have been more comments than I planned. It wasn’t so much her intelligence since she was really intelligent but also naive.

Phreeky-McNasty

53. Folder Of Secrets

We were talking about divorce, and official separation while he was still overseas deployed. He had flown back for 2 weeks R and R and would head back overseas due to his request to extend his time there.

I thought we were going to talk things out, but I picked him up at the airport, and he was stone-cold. We went back to our apartment and talked for an hour or less, where he said he thought divorce was best, and oh, he had to get going he was picking up a "friend" at the airport and staying with her for the two weeks he was back.

I was in shock.

Fast forward several days later and I was on his computer printing off a CD label (dating myself here) when the art program showed several "hidden" files that had pictures in them.

The folder was labeled with a woman's name. I opened said folder and there were saved explicit detailed emails and photos that dated back long before he and I had started having trouble.

No wonder he wanted to extend his stay in a war zone. He was banging an NCO under his command. He had then coordinated to fly in 3 hours after him so they could run away together after he told me it was over.

I never saw that coming.

54. Needing For Comfort

Things were rough between my long-distance girlfriend, and me. But I wanted the relationship to work so badly. Money was tight, so my parents supported me by partially paying for a ticket to fly over to where my ex lived.

A few weeks before I was flying to visit my girlfriend, my best friend passed away, and I was completely devasted. I reached out to my ex to seek some emotional support, but she was being particularly difficult to reach out to. I called her maybe 5 times an hour out of desperation. Finally, I got a response with a text that read, "This is her boyfriend. Will you please stop texting her? "

Eventually, I got an actual text and a call from my ex, denying everything. I couldn't confirm, at the time, whether or not my ex was actually cheating on me. But I eventually found out from her friends that she was indeed cheating on me.

This was a few years ago. I'm doing pretty good right now, and I'm in a very happy relationship. But man, does it sting just remembering all I went through that day.

55. All In One Night

Married. I came home. No one was home, so I fell asleep.

Middle of the night. I was sleeping in the bedroom. I woke up to her pulling the comforter off our bed to sleep on the couch.

Morning came. Left bedroom for living room to speak with wife. No wife on the couch. I went to look around the house for my wife. I saw the opened guest bedroom.

Suddenly, I found my wife in a guest bed with a comforter and another woman making out together, naked.

Made myself aware of my wife and “guest.” Fast became obvious there was no invitation to join them.

Questioned my wife about the guest. She soon admitted she had been having affairs for over a year with multiple people.

Tears. Sadness. Heartbreak. Divorce.

56. Breaking Trust

On 2017 st Patrick’s Day, when my wife said she wanted to go to a party with friends from work, a couple that we know, I told her that I had finals on Monday (full-time dual bachelor and full-time work), so I’m going to pass she still wanted to go I gave her money and said have fun.

That night, she stopped responding to texts about 1ish (mind u, I don’t really text often to check on her because I appreciate the free time). I checked the Find My Friend thing (we both had it on knowingly) it was turned off. I know she doesn’t know how to do that. So, I was worrying. I went to check her iPad to get her to find my iPhone thing. The password was changed.

Checked her laptop, it was also changed. So, I’m starting to get suspicious. I went into the room and noticed her Apple Watch.

I checked, and it had messages since the last sync, so I checked, and there was a long text conversation dating back a few weeks with an unsaved number.

That raised a flag, so I read it. Turns out it was her coworker's single dude, and she was out with him, and he left his address. So I drove there, got to the address, and sure as heck, my car was in the parking spot, so I took a pic and sent it to her and told her to come out, but she didn’t.

I thought about going in there and doing stupid things in the “heat of the moment.” I just thought about how I wouldn’t want to be in prison over her. So I just went home, then she called and tried to deny it.

I tried to see it her way, but every way I looked at it, she was the complete witch in this story.

57. Dumbest Excuse

I was playing the CSGO with the guys when my fiancé came home from the bar with a bunch of people. Pretty typical. We had started growing apart after I quit drinking and started focusing on school.

I kept playing my game.

They were all partying and drinking. After a while, it got quiet, so I decided to go hang out if she was still up.

Turned out one guy stayed, and she's blowing him on the back porch. "It's practice for you," she says. "He's gay, I swear."

Yeah, ok.

58. No Permission

My ex met someone in one of his classes who told him about how poly relationships worked, so he started “dating” her and another girl. He never talked to or told me about it to see if I was interested.

I found out when I dropped by his house one day after visiting my dad, and he was in bed with the two of them.

They recently broke up because the two women decided that because he’s a straight cis male, they can’t date someone “like that.”

59. Dating Grandma

He told me he was helping his grandma, who he lived with, retile her bathroom because she'd fallen ill and was stressed about her bathroom not being finished that day.

Sure man, no problem. I was at work anyway, or I would have helped.

My mom took my brothers out to a restaurant an hour later and walked in to see my then-boyfriend sucking face and acting quite inappropriately with a girl I worked with who claimed she hated him for a ton of reasons.

He told my mom she was his sick grandma. She agreed that she was...she was 22 in a halter top and jeans and honestly wasn't bad looking tbh. My mom called em out on their crap, then called me.

I finished work, went to my apartment, gathered his belongings, bagged em up, and politely dropped them off to his grandma, who had no idea what happened. I laughed and said my man went on a date without me.

My ex and I are both men, so the woman in the equation threw me for a loop. But ya know, things happens sometimes. I’m only mad that he lied and that she knew we were dating the entire time. She actually told me she "had fun being the other person" because it meant she didn't have to commit to anyone.

60. Everyone Knows Except Me

This will probably get buried, but I have one.

My ex was overseas on tour and missed his sister's wedding, which I went to as a bridesmaid, even reading a message from him to try and ease the sting of him not being there.

I had just gotten home and got a phone call from his mom that his grandmother had passed away. His mom had tried to call to give him the news and had been unable to get ahold of him, needing to leave a message.

At the end of the phone call, she said, "Oh, by the way, did you know that he is in Rome on his leave?" He was supposed to let me know when he got leave so I could meet him in Europe.

Instead, he skipped out on his sister's wedding so he could go to Rome and on a cruise with a co-worker that he was sleeping with. Needless to say, he was an ex very shortly after that.

61. Glad To Be Dialed

She butt-dialed me.

I got to hear her arrange a date with some guy. I could say that she was in a cab with him coming back from an ‘industry function.’

The best part was her telling him which nights her fat, boring husband wouldn’t be around.

That husband was me.

62. Unexpected Worst Surprise

I was visiting a good friend of mine to help her out for a few days since she had just had a baby. I came home, saw my husband's car was there, went in, and called out a couple of times, "Hey babe, I'm home! Hello?" - no answer, but all the lights were on, dishes on the table, etc. Weird.

I started down the hallway towards our bedroom, getting increasingly worried something may have happened to him, when he came bursting out of our room completely naked and went, "Heyyy!" as if everything was totally normal.

I smiled for one split second, thinking he had jumped out of the shower just to greet me, or maybe he was just being goofy with this "sexy surprise." I was about to say something like, "Oh, did you miss me that much?" when I saw her through the bedroom door behind him, naked and flushed, in our bed, holding the blanket up to cover herself.

She was a (much younger) coworker of his that I was friends with also.

I remember hearing my own heartbeat for a few seconds while I stood there, just blinking, frozen. Then, I walked back down the hallway to see what my husband had to say and ask him the obvious questions.

He was clearly very drunk, but that wasn't out of the ordinary for him most weekends. After initially slurring something like, "I thought you'd be cool with it." - WTF? - he changed tactics and had the nerve to stand naked in our kitchen and tell me, "Oh, you think I slept with her?! No, no. I didn't make out with her. No."

(In case you have any doubt: Yes, yes he did.) After that, I was pretty much speechless and felt like I really needed to be anywhere else, so I left for a while. The night didn't get any better when I came back.

Sad: I wasn't even early. He just got drunk and forgot what day I was coming back. Sadder: I ended up giving her a ride home. Saddest: I stayed. Kept trying to work it out for two more years.

Take it from a sucker: cheaters don't change.

63. Introduced To The Wrong Guy

I lived with my girlfriend during our last year of university. We had an apartment. We only had one side table next to our bed, and we had two chargers to charge our phones. So the suspicion obviously started when she didn’t charge her phone at night anymore and kept it on her side of the bed.

Then she started getting agitated when we were supposed to get to a mutual friend's house, but we weren’t getting there fast enough. A friend of mine that I had introduced her, too.

Then his name just keeps popping up on her phone. When I question her, I’m told, “We’re planning your birthday. Don’t ruin it.”

Then, one day, she was not home, and I went out on the balcony and I saw his house from there.

Her car was parked there.

I called and asked where she was. I was told she was on campus and might just stay at her office on campus for the night.

She moved out very shortly after. I kept the dog we had just gotten. Still have the dog today. She’s the only good thing to have come out of that relationship.

64. The Girl Bestfriend

I went to send a Snapchat on his story from his phone and saw his best friend was another girl.

Checked his texts, and suspicions were confirmed.

I also found out that I had met her! I originally said I couldn’t go to a party, So when I ended up telling him I could go and she was already at his place, we all went together.

I believed him when he said they were friends, silly me.

65. Cute Note Gone Horror

Was going to post a cute little note on his Facebook for our 6-month wedding anniversary. I accidentally caught him messaging his ex about how awful of a wife I am and how he missed her.

Decided to dig further (stupid me) and saw that he had a tinder for a week while I was taking care of my mother as well as visiting backpage multiple times. And then I found a condom under our bed.

My stupid self forgave him.

66. Worst Scene To Witness

A Friend of mine came home from a tour in Iraq. I picked him up and took him home to surprise his wife and walked in on her being spit-roasted by two dudes.

He just closed the door before she even noticed him, called me to tell me to turn around, and we went drinking.

He was pretty calm about it, and I think he low-key knew before he actually found out.

67. The Morning Surprise

My brother’s was pretty devastating. He woke up and realized his wife wasn’t in bed, so he went looking for her and saw a familiar car (his cousin/best friend) in the driveway.

He went out, and they were doing it in the car.

Never seen a man so destroyed. ☹

68. Got Bad Blood

Not my story. But my older sister and her husband. I remember her birthday was around 20 (the legal drinking age in Canada is 19), and she invited me over for drinks and a little birthday party. I was very close with my brother-in-law.

So we are at this party, and one of my brother-in-law's friends is very touchy with my sister. So, after a few drinks, I have had enough of this. I tossed the guy around a bit and told him to keep his hands to himself.

My brother-in-law calmed me down and told me it was nothing that that was his best friend. Fast forward one month, and he found a bunch of text messages they had been exchanging, and it was not good. Apparently, they had been having an affair for months.

So he moved out, and the other guy moved in right away. I ended up helping my brother-in-law through a lot of drunken nights where he was uncontrollably crying. The whole situation was messed up, and I’m closer to him than my sister to this day.

69. One Car Away

Not me, my mum.

My dad worked overseas in the oil industry when we were young. Standard stuff; 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Been doing the gig for years.

Anyway, while he was supposed to be overseas, my mum was driving down the motorway one day, overtook a car, and looked in. It was my Dad and another woman, looking like any normal couple.

She freaks out, puts her foot down, and drives home.

These were pre-mobile days, so there was no way of contacting him, as he was clearly not in the office. He’s due back in a few days, so she waits and has it out with him when he comes home.

World War 3. He bolts.

Cheers Dad.

70. Someone Else Came

My ex lived with her parents, and we were both in high school. There was a big thunderstorm one night & we were texting. She was saying she was scared and wanted some company, but I didn’t go over.

The next morning, I headed over & she was standing by her ex’s truck.

He had gotten stuck in the mud in front of her house. I walked over and asked her.

Me: Did you make out with him?

Her: Yes.

I just left and never spoke to her again.

[deleted]

71. Unwell and Hurt

I had woken up that morning to her receiving a random text message from a girl she worked with. But there were no other texts, but the message seemed like it was part of a conversation. It wasn’t a particularly suspect message, just that there were no past messages to contextualize it.

My girlfriend acted equally confused.

I was feeling ill and wanted to stay home from my class that morning, and she was VERY insistent that I didn’t, which I thought was odd.

On the way there, I was stuck on the highway with no way to pull over quickly enough, and I threw up all over myself in the car. I finally pulled over and cleaned up a bit, but I was absolutely HYSTERICAL, and I was like, I’m coming home.

I obviously couldn’t make it to my class, and she was like, “Okay, well, I’m the next town over getting brunch with the girl from the text message earlier.”

I came home and showered, and before I even put clothes on, I looked at her call/text records. She had been messaging this girl all night long. I confronted her, and she basically admitted that they had been getting closer. I think she admitted that they had kissed, and that was it.

I was so physically ill and couldn’t really get out of bed. But I had to be at work at 4:30 the next morning, so I just slept all day, but I was home from work the next day before she woke up, and she was awaken by me packing my things up and moving home.

72. Guy Of Worst Red Flags

My dad was very ill. And died. I was pregnant and at the hospital dealing with the details that follow death. I forgot my social, and my pregnant brain could not remember it. I sent my husband to go get it from our home. He doesn't come back for hours and won't answer his cell.

I told them I'd be back with the info and headed home to find out what happened. I go to open our door, and our couch is pushed against it. I'm trying to open the door, and he's yelling at me.

Finally opens the door.

And he was doing drugs. They were everywhere (he was on probation at the time) we fought. Huge fight.

Then, I ended up finding an underage girl in the closet. For some sick reason I stayed. Only to find out two years later, after lots of therapy, that he cheated again. And had been cheating our whole relationship.

I nicely packed his things and had them waiting for him. Filed for divorce that week. It's been a year since I was divorced. I ended up dating way sooner than I thought I would. And I am now madly in love with a man I've known since high school, and he treats me and my daughter spectacularly.

Don't stay in a relationship with this type of hurt. There is far better out there.

73. Back To Back Betrayal

I pulled up yahoo on our shared desktop computer and had an email from his best friend. I read it and realized that it was an email from a friend to my husband... giving him advice about the girl he fell in love with that wasn’t me.

It was his boss’ wife. His boss was also his only bandmate. His only friend.

He was making out with his wife in their house while his boss passed out drunk after band practice.

She played them against each other and made out like a bandit with guy #3 she was stringing along.

Last I heard, Guy 4 got full custody of a kid they had.

Meanwhile, I remarry an awesome dude and have a baby boy who is softly snoring right now while we watch Hulu in our jammies.

74. License Keeper

My mom is a family therapist and was having a rough patch with my dad. My dad decided to surprise her at her office with something (flowers or food, I don't remember).

He walked in on her and one of her clients making out (the patient was female). When they divorced, he decided not to add the part where she had relations with clients so she could keep her license.

She responded by telling his kids the reason they divorced was he was an alcoholic. She ended up remarrying about a year later.

To a different client of hers (male).

75. Long Distance Horror

My girlfriend had started college (she was a year older than me), so we couldn't be together too often (only I had a car, and it was a pain to drive an hour and a half to go see her, and then drive an hour and a half back).

Due to various events over the weekend, I hadn't been able to see her for about two months.

I dropped in to surprise her but called her about 10 minutes before I got there. She was waiting for me naked so that we could have so much fun.

But she didn't realize she had jizz falling out of her as I walked into her dorm room.
