While a Democrat has won the last five political elections in New Hampshire, the state is more moderate than most. Governor Chris Sununu, a Republican, has presided over New Hampshire since January of 2017. Sununu has never been a fan of Donald Trump and has regularly spoken out against him.
Trump was recently humiliated by a New Hampshire primary poll that showed him only leading Nikki Haley by 4 points. While complaining about the poll, Trump also took a shot at Sununu and the Governor responded over X.
Trump raged on Friday, "FAKE NEW HAMPSHIRE POLL WAS RELEASED ON BIRDBRAIN. JUST ANOTHER SCAM! RATINGS CHALLENGED FOXNEWS WILL PLAY IT TO THE HILT. SUNUNU NOW ONE OF THE LEAST POPULAR GOVERNORS IN U.S. REAL POLL TO FOLLOW."
As usual, Trump's information was not all that accurate. The most recent poll showed the Governor with a 63% approval rating and he is generally considered to be one of the most popular Governors in the country.
Sununu responded online, "One of us has never lost an election.The other currently polls at 40% in NH and apparently doesn’t know how to turn his caps lock off."
Of course, Trump has many things to worry about and shouldn't be fighting with members of his own party, but that is precisely what he's doing.
