While reporting from the RNC on Wednesday, Maria Bartiromo claimed that Donald Trump is responsible for gains in the stock market.
For many members of the conservative media, Donald Trump is not capable of doing anything wrong and Joe Biden is not capable of doing anything right. The economy and stock market have been strong under Biden, but Maria Bartiromo isn't about to give him any credit for it.
The Fox Business host was speaking with Jesse Watters and opined, "the momentum is so strong right now. So many people get it. Investors – look at the market, Jesse. The other day, Dow Industrial up 740 points. Today, another 200 plus points. Investors are betting that Donald Trump returns to the White House and implements those economic policies that get a growth trajectory back in place for this economy."
This has been a talking point for Trump and his campaign for several months now. In early January, the former President claimed that Joe Biden had nothing to do with the strong economy, writing:
"THIS IS THE TRUMP STOCK MARKET. BECAUSE MY POLLS AGAINST BIDEN ARE SO GOOD THAT INVESTORS ARE PROJECTING THAT I WILL WIN, AND THAT WILL DRIVE THE MARKET UP. EVERYTHING ELSE IS TERRIBLE (WATCH THE MIDDLE EAST!), AND RECORD SETTING INFLATION HAS ALREADY TAKEN ITS TOLL. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"
