Biden: Election Will Be Free And Fair But Possibly Not Peaceful

On Friday, Joe Biden told reporters that while he expected the upcoming election to be free and fair, he doesn't know that it will be peaceful.

There is so much attention on the race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump that it can be easy to forget that Joe Biden is still in charge. However, the president is working hard behind the scenes and is reportedly especially focused on foreign policy as his term ends.

A reporter asked the President on Friday, "The election is a month away. One I’d like to know how you’re feeling about how this election is going. And then also, do you have confidence that it will be a free and fair election and that it will be peaceful?"

Biden answered:

"Two separate questions. I’m confident it will be free and fair. I don’t know whether it will be peaceful. The things that Trump has said and the things that he said last time out, when he didn’t like the outcome of the election, were very dangerous. Have you noticed? I noticed. The vice presidential Republican candidate did not say he’d accept the outcome of the election. He wasn’t happy to accept the outcome of the last election. So I I’m concerned about what they’re going to do."

The reporter followed by asking, "Are you making any preparations, given security briefings related to domestic security?"

"I always get those briefings," Biden responded.
