This past Sunday, the BET Awards were held at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. Hundreds of A-list celebrities were in attendance, ranging from R&B icons such as Smokey Robinson to today’s fan-favorites Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Beyoncé. In addition, there were amazing performances from Alicia Keys, The Weeknd, and Tinashe (just to name a few). As is typical for awards shows that are broadcast on live television, there were also some mishaps during the ceremony such as Diddy falling through the stage midway through his performance that commemorated the 20 year anniversary of Bad Boy Records. However, there were also some very touching and powerful moments, including Smokey Robinson’s acceptance speech after he received his Lifetime Achievement Award. All in all, the BET Awards were truly great this year and, if you didn’t get a chance to watch, here are the top five moments from that memorable night.
