AC/DC: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably did not know about AC/DC, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the iconic hard rock band that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: Tony Currenti Played Drums on Almost Every Song on Their Debut Album. Currenti – who now owns a pizza joint in Sydney, Australia, by the way – played drums on every single AC/DC song on their debut album except for one. The only song he didn’t play drums on was “Baby Please Don’t Go.”

Number Seven: Angus Young Was Never a Big Partier. Though AC/DC earned a reputation as a party band (no thanks to Bon Scott’s behavior), lead guitarist Angus Young has never really been into drinking or partying. Instead, he likes to drink hot tea and chocolate milk.

Number Six: Bon Scott Used to Perform in a Fluffy Yellow Costume. Before he was part of AC/DC, Bon Scott belonged to The Valentines, which had more of a pop sound. As a member of The Valentines, Scott dressed in a fluffy yellow costume while performing.

Number Five: Angus Young Suffered From Stage Fright. And to overcome it, he would wear a school uniform. At one point, Young even wore his own old school uniform on stage!

Number Four: They Are More of a Dictatorship Than a Democracy. Angus and Malcolm Young have earned a reputation for their notorious short tempers and tendencies to fire and hire on extremely short notice.

Number Three: Not All of Their Performances Are Amazing. AC/DC played the Reading Festival in 1976, and it was a total disaster. The band was fifth on the bill, and they played in front of 50,000 people, which was huge for them at the time. However, they totally bombed, and they were apparently booed off of the stage.

Number Two: They Aren’t Easy to Work With. According to Andy Copping, AC/DC are quite difficult to work with. Copping booked 2010’s Download Festival, and he wanted to include AC/DC/ However, he said that they were incredibly demanding and refused to let their logo be used on merch.

Number One: Brian Johnson’s Voice Was So Powerful He Blew 10 Microphones. It’s true! Though many people were skeptical about Johnson replacing Scott, he proved everybody wrong and even blew 10 mics while recording Back In Black.
