World’s Biggest Climate Conference Erupts Into Laughter After U.S. Rep Promotes Coal
Trump’s White House advisor, Wells Griffith, was met with thunderous laughter while speaking at a pro-fossil fuel event.
According to the Washington Post, Griffith took the stage at the U.N. climate talks in Poland and stated:
“We strongly believe that no country should have to sacrifice economic prosperity or energy security in pursuit of environmental sustainability.”
The crowd of approximately 200 climate campaigners cut his speech short by bursting into laughter. One woman even yelled, “These false solutions are a joke!” according to Talking Points Memo.
The laughter interrupted as the Trump administration promised to promote fossil fuel production that has helped in the destruction of the planet.
The panel marked the second year in a row that the Trump administration has advocated the use of burning more planet-destroying fossil fuels that could potentially lead to global devastation, illness, and pollution.
As recently as August 2018, Trump declared that “the coal industry is back” during a rally in West Virginia, CNBC reports.
