We Can’t Create Something Better Than God: Watch as Ron Johnson Makes the Strangest Anti-Vax Argument Yet

Many Republican lawmakers have been willing to get vaccinated. Some, though, like Rand Paul and Ron Johnson, have remained unvaccinated. Both men said that they had COVID already so there is no need to get a shot.

WASHINGTON, DC – DECEMBER 18: Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-WI) questions Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz during a Senate Committee On Homeland Security And Governmental Affairs hearing at the US Capitol on December 18, 2019 in Washington, DC. Last week the Inspector General released a report on the origins of the FBI’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s possible ties with Russia during the 2016 Presidential elections. Johnson has continued to push plenty of anti-vax arguments that aren’t based in science. And in his latest argument against inoculations, he claimed that we can’t make something better than God.

The Wisconsin senator told WCPT, “Why would we just automatically assume that our natural immunity is going to be awful? You would think the default position would be, if you’ve already had it, you ought to be pretty well protected. Why do we assume that the body’s natural immune system isn’t the marvel that it really is?”

Johnson continued, “Why do we think that we can create something better than God in terms of combatting disease? There are certain things we have to do, but we have just made so many assumptions, and it’s all pointed toward everybody getting a vaccine.”
