WATCH: WSJ Reporter Explains Why Trump is Counting on Stunts Before Election Day

During a CNN segment, Wall St. Journal senior political correspondent Molly Ball explained why Donald Trump is performing stunts in the run-up to the election.

On Tuesday, Kamala Harris delivered a presidential address at the Ellipse in Washington DC to more than 70,000 people. On Wednesday, Donald Trump rode in a garbage truck with his logo and wore an orange safety vest while speaking to supporters.

When speaking about his stunts, which also include working the fry station at McDonalds, Ball said that there is actually a strategy behind them. She told CNN:

"I think in terms of the photo ops and the stunts, you see that these campaigns have a different theory about who the undecided voters voters are at this point. The Trump camp's theory is that the voters they need to reach are the ones who are marginally interested in politics and will only pay attention if something funny or weird happens. So they see Donald Trump on a garbage truck and it's like, 'Oh, that's kinda cool."

Ball continued

"The Harris campaign's theory is different. Their theory is that the undecided voters who are still out there are conservative-leaning, college-educated suburbanites who want the president to be a serious figure. She's not doing these kinds of stunts because she wants to be seen as a serious figure. She wants to convince people that she's presidential."
