More and more conservative (read: non-MAGA) Republicans are distancing themselves from Donald Trump as his campaign struggles against Kamala Harris, who is gaining support among women and Gen X voters.
Just a few days after revealing she's voting for Vice President Harris, former GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney confirmed that both of her parents, Lynn and Dick Cheney, will also be backing the Democratic presidential ticket.
Cheney's announcement during a Q&A with the Texas Tribune drew major cheers from the crowd.
But don't just take Liz's word for it. Here's Dick Cheney himself endorsing Kamala Harris earlier this week.
Jen O’Malley Dillon, Harris' campaign chair, reacted positively to Cheney's endorsement. "The Vice President is proud to have earned Congresswoman Cheney’s vote. She is a patriot who loves this country and puts our democracy and our Constitution first," Dillon said in a statement.
The Cheneys join the ever-growing list of Republicans who have openly backed the Vice President. Aside from the official "Republicans For Harris" group, over 200 former GOP White House staffers posted an open letter online endorsing Vice President Harris.
These endorsements come just days before the first--and most likely only--debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Aside from his lack of powerhouse endorsements, Trump doesn't have the support of his former Vice President, Mike Pence, nor any of his former Cabinet members.
With all of the Cheneys on board, is it farfetched to believe that George W. Bush might also join his fellow non-MAGA Republicans in endorsing the Harris/Walz ticket?
