WATCH: Videos Preview Next Public Hearing — Focused On Pressure Campaign Aimed At Mike Pence

The third public hearing of the January 6th Committee has been delayed until Thursday afternoon, but there are already hints being released about the content of that hearing. This round can be expected to delve into evidence that Donald Trump mounted a pressure campaign on Mike Pence, his vice president, to illegally change the outcome of the 2020 election.

Near the end of the day on Tuesday, the January 6th Committee dropped a short video of Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) talking about the pressure campaign.

Cheney says that the Committee has already shown that Trump knew the ‘stolen election’ claims were a Big Lie, and that his advisors told him so repeatedly. She also reveals what can be expected from the next round.

“In our next hearing on Thursday, the Select Committee will examine President Trump’s relentless effort on January 6th and in the days beforehand to pressure Vice President Pence to refuse to count lawful electoral votes. As a federal judge has indicated, this likely violated two Federal criminal statutes.”

A CSPAN preview also affirms that the pressure campaign against Pence is the primary focus on Thursday’s hearing.

According to NBC, the delay stems from technical issues and the high demand on Congressional staff to prepare the video clips to be used in the hearing.

Notably, one of these clips is shown in the Cheney video above, of former White House attorney John Herschmann testifying that John Eastman, who has been called the “coup attorney,” contacted him on January 7th, still seeking a way to overturn the election, even after the electoral votes were certified.

A Washington Post story analyzing the footage says that an unnamed source close to Cheney has indicated a belief that the Committee plans to bring evidence that Trump knew that the pressure campaign on Pence was illegal, because, the anonymous source says, when Cheney drops a hint like this, it can be assumed that it’s based on factual knowledge and evidence the Committee has in hand.
