WATCH: Union Leader Explains Why Vance's Teacher Comments are 'Weird and Gross'

Teachers Union head Randi Weingarten blasted J.D. Vance on MSNBC this weekend over comments about unmarried teachers.

Since being named Donald Trump's running mate, J.D. Vance has been on the warpath against women, especially those who are unmarried. One of his main targets has been Randi Weingarten, the President of the American Federation of Teachers. According to the Ohio Senator, she isn't suited for her role because she doesn't have children.

When asked about the comments, Weingarten told Jen Psaki, "I've been thinking about it all week because it is strange when he said it then and the fact that he doubled down on it this week is even stranger. He is running for vice president of the United States of America and we have 50 million kids in the United States and they are our future."

The Union head continued, "Whether you go to public school or parochial school or private school, this is the moment that parents and teachers and kids are bonding together. It is the moment of engagement, it is the moment of the teachers trying to create welcoming environments — you know this with your own kids. He has to really be disconnected from life."

Weingarten would note later in the interview:

"Let me just say this: there is a lot of people who don't have kids that wanted kids and when they say that, it is pretty painful. That is a whole other conversation that you and I could have for hours. But the kids — this is what I think is not just weird but kind of really sad and gross about what he is doing."
