WATCH: TX Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Says COVID Surge in the State Due to Unvaccinated Black People

As of right now, Florida and Texas are seeing a large number of the new COVID cases. As a result, hospitals are filling up and people are dying. Even Texas’ Governor Greg Abbott recently tested positive for the virus.

Rather than blaming Trump supporters who are hesitant to get vaccinated, Republicans are focused on blaming others. A common talking point on Fox News is that the virus is being spread by immigrants. And during a Thursday night segment on Fox News, Texas Lt. Governor blamed African Americans for the surge.

Ingraham asked the Republican lawmaker, “They’re coming after your state because of COVID numbers, hospitalizations, deaths are up are up in Texas. And they’re saying it’s a direct assault on your governor’s policies and your state’s policies. Your very brief response?”

Patrick told the host, “Yeah Laura, COVID is spreading. Most of the numbers, particularly among the unvaccinated. And the Democrats like to blame Republicans on that. Well, the biggest group in most states are African Americans who have not been vaccinated.”

The Lt. Gov. continued, “The last time I checked, over 90% of them vote for Democrats in your cities and major counties. So it’s up to the Democrats to get, just as it’s up to Republicans, to get as many people vaccinated. But we respect the fact that if people don’t want the vaccination, we’re not going to force it on them. It’s their individual right.”
