From time to time over the years, Donald Trump has been spotted with a woman who looks very much like his third wife, Melania Trump, but definitely is not. Never taking off her giant square sunglasses while also never speaking to the press, the "Fake Melania" has been allegedly debunked--by the Trump campaign, which has never once told the truth to the public.
The "Fake Melania" popped up again when Trump went to cast his vote on Tuesday in Florida, once again waving and smiling but never speaking.
The Fake Melania removed her sunglasses at one point and maintained a Melania-esque smirk, but Twitter users were all, "Yeah, still not Melania."
Speaking to the media after casting his vote, Trump said he would concede defeat in the 2024 election if he loses a "fair" race, which is as real an answer as the Melania standing next to him. "If I lose an election, if it's a fair election, I'd be the first one to acknowledge it. So far, I think it's been fair," he said.
"Having to trot out the Fake Melania on Election Day looks pretty desperate," tweeted one user. "Does Fake Melania's vote even count?" asked another.
The bigger question is why bring out the Fake Melania on such an important day?
Polls were still open at press time, with long lines at voting locations in all seven swing states. Twitter users were happy for the Fake Melania distraction, whether it was real or not.
A brief history of the Fake Melania is below.
