Alex Jones has had a rough couple of years, but the last few weeks have been particularly bad. First a judge found the radio host liable in a Sandy Hook defamation suit. Then Jones was subpoenaed to appear in front of the 1/6 congressional committee.
Jones agreed to talk to the panel, noting that he didn’t want to go to jail. And he is getting some impressive cover from a major figure in the Conservative world. On Wednesday night, Tucker Carlson gushed about Jones, calling him a ‘great journalist.’
The Fox host began, “Jones is often mocked for his flamboyance but the truth is he’s been a far better guide to reality in recent years, in other words, a far better journalist, than say, NBC news national correspondent Ken Dilanian or Margaret Brennan of CBS.”
Carlson then made one of the more wild claims of his career, continuing:
“Now the irony here, and there are many layers of irony here, but the main one is that Alex Jones isn’t simply innocent of inciting crime on January 6th. Alex Jones actively worked to prevent crimes from taking place on January 6th. We’re not running interference for Alex Jones and we’re not guessing it. We happen to know this for fact because we looked into it in some detail for Patriot Purge.”
