Ever since the night he shot 3 protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Kyle Rittenhouse has been made a celebrity by the right-wing media. And now that he has been found not guilty on all charges, he can appear on Conservative shows.
On Monday night, Rittenhouse appeared on Tucker Carlson’s program. Following the interview, the Fox host gushed about the teen, saying, “what a sweet kid.”
Desperately attempting to rewrite the narrative, Carlson began, “What a sweet kid. I think that comes through loud and clear. Imagine putting that kid in jail. One of the very few people in downtown Kenosha that night who was there for the right reasons, who was trying to help, who was trying to bring order out of disorder, who was trying to protect rather than destroy.”
The host continued, “His community falls apart, and he tries his best to do the right thing at a time when nobody else in his community is doing the right thing.” Of course, Kenosha wasn’t the teenager’s community. He traveled to the Wisconsin town from his home in Antioch, Illinois.
Carlson closed his remarks, “Hard to imagine you could’ve watched the whole trial and then watched those 48 minutes and come away thinking Kyle Rittenhouse is a monster. Just the opposite, actually. As we said, this is a boy who sincerely believed in the promises of America. Do the right thing, be honest, worked hard to turn himself into the police. Their response? They pepper-sprayed him.”
