WATCH: Trump Supporters Tear Down Barriers, Attempt To Occupy Capitol Building

Protestors for the misnamed ‘Stop the Steal’ protest movement in D.C. Wednesday broke down barriers around the Capitol building and stormed the building, angry that Donald Trump lost the election and that Vice President Mike Pence refuses to attempt to alter the outcome.

Videos captured by multiple news outlets show violent and destructive criminal behavior from the Trump supporters. In a clip below from Washington Post reporter Rebecca Tan, the crowd can be seen breaking down barriers and moving toward the building.

In another clip from The Blaze reporter Elijah Schaffer, police can be seen trying to hold back the unruly mob, as they shout obscenities and taunts, and fight back.

Status Coup is also presenting a live feed from the event, where police in riot gear can be seen resorting to chemical spray to try to hold back the rioters.

While this all goes on, the Congressional certification of the 2020 Presidential election has begun, and the first objection — to Arizona’s votes, coming from Representative Paul Gosar with the support of Senator Ted Cruz — has been made. Mike Pence has released a statement explaining that he does not have the authority to reject electoral votes. Though there will be debate in the House and Senate, the process is underway, and there’s no reason to believe that the protests outside will have any effect on the ultimate outcome.

Trump has called for his supporters to show up today and “be wild,” and it appears that they are complying, as police are forced to respond.
