The Office of the President of the United States comes with significant powers. Donald Trump was always happy to have them. His role prevented him from being prosecuted. Trump was also able to use his pardoning power to pay back supporters like Joe Arpaio, Dinesh D’Souza, and Roger Stone.

Trump also made a mockery of the Medal of Freedom. He awarded the once prestigious honor to people like Rush Limbaugh, Jim Jordan, Devin Nunes, and Antonin Scalia. Jealous of their honor, Trump says he once wanted to award himself with the Medal of Honor. Different from the Medal of Freedom, the Medal of Honor is given only to service members.
During a Turning Point USA speech on Saturday night, the former President told a story where he flew to Iraq and the Air Force One lights had to be dimmed to avoid detection. “I said ‘Captain, we’re pretty low.’ I don’t see any runway. I don’t see anything.”
After the plane landed, Trump says he asked the pilot, “how did I do, Captain? Wasn’t I brave? I didn’t think you were gonna land.”

The former President continued, “In fact, as president, I wanted to give myself the Congressional Medal of Honor but they wouldn’t let me do it. I’ve always wanted that, but they wouldn’t let me do it. They said that would be inappropriate.”
