Donald Trump is not the current President of the United States of America. This is an undeniable fact — but that won’t stop MAGAland from denying it anyway. In fact, at Trump’s rally Saturday evening in Michigan, the opening prayer began with a declaration that the ex-president is still in power.

Pastor Rick Warzywak is not ready to accept Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 election, and he’s made it clear from the beginning. In January of 2021, while rallygoers at the U.S. Capitol were tearing down barriers and threatening the lives of legislators, Detroit News reports that Warzywak was one of the organizers of a supporting rally in Michigan, speaking about his desire for decertification of the state’s election outcome.
Saturday night, over a year later, he seems to still believe that Trump won the election, and in fact, in his opening prayer, at the ousted former president’s rally, declares it in his opening prayer.

“Father in Heaven, we firmly believe that Donald J. Trump is the current and true President of the United States…we declare he will be back in office soon, very soon, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
So far, Donald Trump has not declared candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, but a handful of GOP legislators have promoted a notion that they would restore him to the presidency through the convoluted route of taking over the House, naming him Speaker, and then impeaching and removing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris — with the Speaker of the House being, of course, third in succession for the presidency. Aside from this unlikely path, Trump and his supporters have touted the even less-viable option of somehow simply erasing the election and handing him a do-over.
