WATCH: Trump Hints That It’s OK to Go to Work With Coronavirus

Coronavirus has been weighing heavily on Donald Trump’s mind lately. The President, however, doesn’t seem very concerned with the 11 Americans who have died from the illness so far. He is much more concerned with the impact the virus has had on the financial markets.

Trump spoke with Sean Hannity of Fox News last night and the epidemic was a common topic of conversation. He appeared desperate to allay concerns about the illness. During one rambling answer, the President said that some people can go to work with the virus and still get better.

The President told Hannity:

“A lot of people will have this and it’s very mild. They’ll get better very rapidly. They don’t even see a doctor. They don’t even call a doctor. You never hear about those people. So you can’t put them down in the category of the overall population in terms of this corona flu and/or virus. So you just can’t do that. So, if you know, we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work. Some of them go to work, but they get better.”

Trump’s advice was quickly rebuked all over Twitter. The best response may have come from MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, who tweeted, “Not a doctor or a virologist or anything but DEFINITELY DO NOT GO TO WORK IF YOU HAVE CORONAVIRUS PLEASE AND THANK YOU.”
