The power of the President of the United States is immense. Donald Trump hasn’t used that power to help American voters. He has, in fact, used that power to make sure that his tax returns weren’t available to the public. But on Sunday, that bill came due. And the results are quite embarrassing for Trump. According to the New York Times, he only paid $750 in taxes in 2016 and again in 2017. During today’s press conference, Trump denied the veracity of the report.
Trump denied the report when asked about it. “That is fake news,” he said. “That is totally fake news, made up, fake, we will do the same stories you can ask me the same question four years ago, I had to litigate this and talk about it.”
The president continued, “Actually I pay tax, you will see that as soon as my tax returns, it’s under audit, it’s been under audit for a long time. The IRS does not treat me well, they treat me like the Tea Party and they never treat me well, they treat me very badly.”
