Donald Trump had a busy legal day on Friday, getting a sentencing delay in his hush money trial while also appearing in court along with his lawyers in their attempt to overturn the decision in the E. Jean Carroll sexual abuse and defamation case.
Trump has repeatedly lost to Carroll in court thanks to his continued public rants that defame her yet again. Trump's lawyers contend that the "muddied evidence" provided by Carroll's team was a "textbook example of implausible allegations being propped up by highly inflammatory, inadmissible” evidence.
But Carroll's lead attorney, Robbie Kaplan, argued the evidence in question was "proper," and that there was "plenty of proof" presented during the nearly two-week-long trial of Carroll’s claim that Trump attacked her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the late 90's.
After their first trial, Carroll was awarded $5 million, but Trump's continued defamatory remarks landed them both back in court last January. That jury awarded Carroll a whopping $83.3 million.
The latest ruling from the three-judge is expected to take several weeks, but Carroll's lawyers might use that time to bring yet another defamation case against Trump thanks to his bizarre post-court behavior on Friday.
At a news conference at Trump Tower, Trump lied yet again and said that Carroll was telling a “made-up, fabricated story.”
With his lawyers standing behind him, Trump began an unhinged rant about Carroll and other women who have accused him of sexual assault.
Journalist Aaron Rupar wrote a lengthy Twitter thread that's worth reading in case you can't stand listening to Trump speak about sexually assaulting women.
